You have to have your BT phone line "replaced" with a BullDog Home phone line and they are then responsible for your call charges and line rental etc.
Whether this is beneficial in service, or cost or has any limitations (can you use 1889 or 18866 for instance?) needs to be determined and evaluated before you commit. Also the price is only for 12 months, then goes to £29.50 !
The line switch costs £1 (special offer - should be £60)
It might cost you this, £60 that is, to go back to BT if you decide to drop them in a few months time !!!!There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

Thanks quoia for your feedback.
I currently pay line rental only to BT £10.50 (not a penny more) like clockwork to BT as I don't use them for calls at all. I have carrier pre-select as NTL who give me £15 worth of calls (any type including international etc) plus free 24/7 dialup.
I am thinking that bulldog looks good for me as my mobile is now replacing my home line for outgoing calls so I just want incoming only really.
I'm not too worried about the price going up after 12 months as I expect broadband to fall further in future anyway. But reconnection costs might well be an issue - will check with BT although I'm not sure they charge for 'coming back'.0 -
Hi there,
What is a carrier pre-select? £15 worth of calls, that sounds useful.

I have just moved to Nildram from AOL (they wouldn't shift on anything) now I can get newsgroups..fantastic.
Pro:- No minimum contract just 30 days notice; hassle free switch over; 2.2Mb; good customer service, UK No. 1 Speed Test Dec 2004 (http://www.adslguide.org.uk/newsarchive.asp?item=2028); Light user 2.2Mb from £15.99
Con:- Download limit 50Gig at peak times ; unlimited otherwise (so probably not a con...thats what I decided)
Price:- £25.98/month which is not bad

Was going to go to Pipex but they didn't answer their phone!!!!!0 -

That's only for people who can't migrate. If you are migrating it's about £35 all in for set-up. I switched from BT a few months back and have been really pleased, no loss of service, decent user forums and best of all 512 uncapped for £11.74 per month0 -
Any thoughts on Pipex?
I have just moved house and had to cancel my Pipex broadband. contract. They are charging me £60 cancellation however if I re-sign with them they will credit me back the £60.
Is it worth changing ISP? I have never had any probs with them.Filiss0 -
ps Can you barter with these isp's as you can with mobile phone companies. eg Get them to unrestrict download limits without costFiliss0

I've just sent a mail to Freedom2Surf to ask the question about moving house. It would seem silly you had to cancel then re-apply. When I was with Telewest/blueyonder, I don't recall having to do this when I moved then.
Carrier pre-select, anyone?
UKOnline look a good bet though (as mentioned already at http://www.ukonline.net/). £19.99 "feels" about the right price to pay for your Internet connection and you get 2Mbit for this price.
Still wish I could move to another ISP cheaply. F2S won't except the fee with anything other than a cheque and I don't have a chequebook, tsch.

"Carrier Pre Select (CPS)" means a voice Service enabling customers to choose an alternative carrier for their outbound calls. Calls are routed to the local BT exchange where they are handed off to the alternative carrier instead of being transmitted over the BT network.
