How do you know I haven't hit my *rock bottom* already and had to make tough choices to sort myself out? Do you have a monopoly on misery?
I have every empathy and sympathy and respect for other people who have turned their lives around, made difficult decisions about where to make cut backs or what to sell or how to earn money in order to pay off their debt.
I have not much sympathy for people who try to avoid their obligations behind a locked door with the lights off, pretending to be out .0 -

Just checked the BBC website and didn't find a single report of police officers terrifying children while smashing up houses. Nope, not one.

Surprising, because it has been fairly prominant."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I have dealt with a bailiff company (Rossendales) due to a council tax debt - yes it was my fault, I held my hands up and made an arrangement to pay in full over 6 months. Not good enough for these people who, out of the blue 3 months later and despite me sticking to the arrangement, threatened to send a man with a van round to my house.
I tried reasoning with them to no avail and ended up borrowing £200 from my brother to keep them off my back - I'm a single parent and couldn't risk these people coming and taking my daughters things... Completely the wrong thing to do, but they had me scared witless.
I'd hate to be in the same situation if they have even more powers... I will sign.Proud to be dealing with my debts:dance:

If the police can get it wrong and even get a court order with the wrong information, what makes you think that even a reputable (if there is such a thing) DCA can't. The difference is the police didn't take anything away, DCA's would.

It all boils down to quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

I to am making an effort to pay my debts back with what i can afford, I am not hiding i have been open with my creditors from day 1 keeping them informed etc and paying them despite the fact they want more and keep piling interest and charges on making the debt higher and more impossible to deal with, They to are threatening me with balliffs. My debts up untill a few weeks ago were managable now due to a change in my circumstances they are not.
I think sloppy saver you will find most on here are making a concious effort to pay back their debts which is why they come on here to sort themselves out. The thought of coming home one day and finding my house broken into and empty is horrifying. What if your child is home alone! mine doesnt answer the door if he is on his own and to be perfectly honest i rarely answer the door either unless i know some one is coming round specifically, does this mean they automatically ram raid your front door regardless, I shouldnt think many elderly people answer the door either and would probably have a heart attack if this happened to them.
Also foget about the so called reputable balliffs what about the rogue ones this will give them carte blanch for going to any lengths of intimidating people.
I have def signed and forwarded it to people0 -
Thank you to everyone who has signed so far.
Hopefully we can make a difference.I always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...0 -
Peter Bard has just made a post to say his online petition has been accepted now.
He says he would point out however that the power to permit Bailiffs to use force has already been granted in some instances. This in his opinion needs to be overturned so please sign this as well as previously posted online poll.
