My Grandad puts his shopping into a bag for life rather than a basket because he can't use his hands/arms well enough to steer his mobility scooter and handle a basket at the same time. He can't hook a basket over the front but a bag is flexible enough to go over the handlebars.
I feel for any ignorant person who might approach him over it. He's rude enough to us so some hoity toity shopper or member of staff would get torn a new one.
Does his mobility scooter not have an inbuilt basket?0 -

Perhaps he needs to think about his manners then? If he's rude to shop staff, he's likely to get barred from the store. It's him and only him that would lose out."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Not if he's on a mobility scooter he isn't.
Can you imagine Tesco wanting to risk the headline:Tesco bans disabled grandfather. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

So being disabled means you are exempt from using manners or being held to account for abusing staff who are doing their job? It shouldn't do.
Seriously, is it not plain common sense that you do not use a receptacle for shopping that you have not paid for which you would use for shopping you have paid for? Or put items out of sight which you have not paid for? You may have no ill intent, but you are giving rise to reasonable suspicion, and frankly deserve to be monitored.0 -

Since when has being either a grandparent or disabled excused you from being rude and abusive? Ever?
I really don't think anyone from Tesco would be having any sleepness nights about it. Have you any comprehension or how big they actually are? People will shop there anyway regardless of the headlines. Think otherwise and, sorry, but you're deluded."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

Do try and read what's actually written.
I didn't say it was acceptable to be rude.
I was just pointing out the realities of the situation that very few large companies would risk banning a disabled person just because they were a little rude to staff.
It's not even that common for them to ban those who are not disabled for rudeness.
Obviously it would depend just how rude he was. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
If you read what the poster wrote, she indicates he would be very rude indeed.0

Quite obviously, but the whole point of the post is to convey that he would not tolerate being approached and would voice his opinion forcibly in less than polite tones.0

Yup.
And do you think that Tesco are going to risk the ensuing bad publicity that would result from banning a disabled granddad just because he spoke in 'less than polite tones'?
They didn't get to be the largest food retailer in the UK by making rookie PR mistakes like that. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
