However, I'd expect the "nice people" to have a higher proportion of Fs than the rest of the debate board, and the relationships board to be full of FJs.

Sorry, I broke the bell curve :o ENTJ
  • INFJ for me.

"As an INFJ, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you take things in primarily via intuition. Your secondary mode is external, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit with your personal value system.

INFJs are gentle, caring, complex and highly intuitive individuals. Artistic and creative, they live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities. Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types. "

I thought this was bang on: :rotfl:

"Because the INFJ has such strong intuitive capabilities, they trust their own instincts above all else. This may result in an INFJ stubborness and tendency to ignore other people's opinions. They believe that they're right. On the other hand, INFJ is a perfectionist who doubts that they are living up to their full potential. INFJs are rarely at complete peace with themselves - there's always something else they should be doing to improve themselves and the world around them."

    INTJ

Among the suggested careers is computer programming.

Well, it would have to be for an "INT J" :o
30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.

    Another INTJ here:
    • very expressed introvert
    • moderately expressed intuitive personality
    • slightly expressed thinking personality
    • moderately expressed judging personality
Stephen Hawking, Andrew Grove, Marie Curie, Guy Kawasaki, Igor Sikorsky, Hillary Clinton.

And Road_Hog, I so agree with you about the 'Corporate B0llocks'. I've done so many of these things over the course of a 45-year working life. I haven't noticed that these things have helped in any way.

PS - just found Jane Austen and Emily Bronte were also INTJ - feeling a bit happier now.

I note they dont show the serial killers, despots and facist leaders with the same Myers-Briggs though!

We are really big at this at work, together with NLP, especially for further development of individuals. Quite handy having the Myers-Briggs Instructor and NLP practitioner ticks for the Civilian world I am hoping.

In aviation, you can pretty much guess the MBTI of the other guy anyway, its part of the job and a good means of determining how you can get the best (or worse) out of someone. The reversionary type indication is also VERY important for when TSHTF. As a general guide, under extreme stress, you revert to your polar opposite type. Think of a time you have been under exceptional stress and pressure, look up your polar opposite type and see if you agree with me!

    http://personalitycafe.com/myers-briggs-forum/11071-mbti-types-under-stress.html

For example, when flying, most of our communication is aural rather than visual. Think it doesnt make much difference? Try having a conversation with someone back to back as opposed to face to face and see how many more corrections of understanding you need to make as part of the conversation. Written communication is even worse.

MBTI is like many of these tests, its a tool. What you can do to apply it is ask how you are going to deal with a certain characteristic when you next come across them. Fore example, extroverts love to have their egos stroked, which works wonders in meetings. Like a little puppy dog, throw them a little bone early on and they can melt in your hand. Introverts (majority in the military believe it or not) really dont like confrontation, so if you are going to cross the line on something you want to force through, you shouldnt do it softly.

I came out as ENFJ but I'm not convinced that I fit the profile:

ENFJ’s are drawn to careers that serve others with minimal chance for conflict. Detail and paperwork can cause angst for the ENFJ who hates to be alone. They are often drawn to religious groups and academia, situations where they can interact with others and be challenged. Other popular ENFJ career directions include: Entertainer, Artist, Psychologist and Occupational Therapist.

I fit some of the above for example I am now a university lecturer but prior to that when I was a quantity surveyor I thought the conflict was the most interesting part of the job. If you read the above profile there is no indication that I would always tend to focus on building up my own business rather than working for someone else. You would struggle to find someone less religious than me and I am extremely competitive.

If you do the MBTI "properly" - ie pay someone to do it with you, then the questionnaire is just the beginning, because the way people answer is biassed by all sorts of things other than their underlying innate preferences. You get a session to explore whether the things that the questionnaire has indicated are actually your real preferences or not, and the final decision of which profile best fits you is down to you, not the computer.

If most of it seems to fit apart from the conflict-avoidance, try reading the descriptors for ENTJ and see if they're a better fit.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
