  • Hello,

I wondered if anybody has some advice for me regarding Care Parking.

I live in rented accommodation which has a private car park now run by Care Parking. I have a designated space which my girlfriend parks her car in, when mine isn't there. As such she doesn't have a 'permit' however we put a note in the windscreen advising that her car is a guest in my spot.

We recently have been given a ticket from Care Parking, which I subsequently appealed, (I didn't read the advice to ignore beforehand) and the appeal has now been rejected on the basis we did not have a valid permit. (The office that issues permits is open 08.30 - 17.00 Monday to Friday when I am at work).

I have now read these forums and am considering ignoring any further requests for payment and am really just looking for any indication as to what other users think best?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Many thanks

If you have Googled and found this forum thread, you are reading an old, out of date thread.

stop reading now and click to the current forum instead!!!!!!!

do not ignore a fake pcn, the advice changed in early 2013 and you can now win at POPLA or other independent appeal. Read the sticky threads because you need to learn what will win at appeal. Mitigating circumstances (normal appeals) will lose.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? SEE MY SIGNATURE FOR WHERE TO CLICK ONE CLICK TO GET TO PAGE ONE. READ THE STICKY THREADS AT THE TOP (ADVICE & INFO FOR YOU TO WIN AT APPEAL).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks for the reply,

My flat is privately rented through Dandara, so unfortunately do not know the landlord. The management company employed by Dandara for the building is Clearwater and Care Parking are the parking enforcers. The car park is underneath the building, you need a fob to open the gates to get into it. The rental agreement includes the parking space in which the 'offence' occurred, at a cost of £70 a month. I have just had a quick check and one of the T&C's is to comply with any parking regulations in the building, which we didn't as we didn't have a permit for my girlfriend, which as I've said is not something I can easily do.

Once again thanks for your advice

How do these parasites worm their way into positions like this when it ought to be obvious only people with a key to get in (i.e. residents/guests) will be there? Do they offer to cut the ill-gotten gains with the management company? I think you should organise a bit of resistance PDQ. Maybe a little note in everyone's letterbox? These tickets are FAKE, don't part with a penny or respond to them in any way?
  • Thanks again for your advice.

I asked the same questions in my appeal letter. I have lived in these apartment for over 4 years and it had never been an issue until Clearwater, and therefore Care Parking took over running the place in March this year.

I now have a permit for my girlfriend, initially they refused, stating the spot was for residents only, however I could have a temporary one which they would only issue once (for 1 day at a time) every 2 weeks! After a lot of arguing back and forth with Clearwater and Dandara they eventually agreed to issue a 2nd permanent permit. I will write that letter you have suggested though, as when I have visitors I currently have to get a visitors permit every time, which is obviously an inconvenience.

Apologies for ranting on a little bit as it frustrates me no end. I will take the advice given here and not respond to anything in the future.

    Many thanks

Just part of the scam. Do not worry. If this was a genuine solicitor they would only have sent one letter not two. Try taking an overall view, before taking anyone to court they have to know who the driver was, and they don't, do they?

Once the phoney solicitors letters arrive it means they are down to their last cards and will shortly be throwing their hands in.

The whole thing was a con from start to finish. Just keep ignoring, not long to go now.

PS Is this the letter? If so it is the last before they decide that she ISN'T a mug and give up their attempt to swindle her:

I have also had a letter from Thomas Higgins Partnership, the wording is slightly different. Should I also ignore?

I cant post a link but it reads:

"We have been instructed by the above named client to pursue payment of the unpaid parking charge issued for the above vehicle. Despite our client's previous correspondence seeking payment, full payment has not been received.

To avoid further action being taken and additional costs being incurred it is essential that this account is paid immediately"

Signed off with a nice pixelated image lol :T

The only further action that will be taken, is possibly another asinine letter from them before they give up. And the only extra costs incurred will be their postage in sending it.

Do not take the slightest notice of this garbage. You owe them nothing and they will do nothing.

    Guaranteed.
