Care parking tkt pls can you help me

Let's just say a friend of mine visited a shopping retail park today which she's never used before, it was checked on way in and once parked if had to pay and display but it was free parking.

The car was parked slightly out of a bay on return to car a notice was in window explaining it was a parking charge £90 but £65 if paid within 14 days. It details car reg make and model, says you can appeal it but only deal with written correspondence as due to legal procedures it is difficult for them to submit verbal evidence to court. Also on top of it it states it is an offence for unauthorised person to remove this notice from car.

I'd like to explain that the car park is huge and there was signs around outside but car was parked in middle of the park, speaking to friend she did admit tht she was over the bay.

Could anyone offer any advice I think it's a huge amount! And has anyone dealt with this company before?

Thanks for taking time to read it's appreciated

  • Ignore them. It's all hogwash. You don't owe them a penny. All talk of court, and threat about it being an offence is complete rubbish. Just take a look at the sticky threads on this forum, and you'll know to expect a load of threatening letters, with increasing amounts to pay. The good news is that you can ignore them all.

Be thankful you came here before appealing. There is no appeal procedure worthy of its name, and only encourages them to send you more mail. By entering into no conversation with them, it should minimise the time it takes them to give up and move on.
  • Thanks for reply first thing I did was look on this site people are always nice offering help, do you think they can make me pay by court? Or effect credit? I've read a few threads and I'm really shocked especially when it's a free car park in the first place!

Care parking ? Bloody hell where do they get these names from ? Put it this way they don't care about parking, all they care about is money, and that is what is about, they won't listen to reason they want money. Its 100% a penalty which is illegal for a private company to issue, there is no loss in a free car park, you could park in the middle of four bays and still it's not legal. Parking bays in private car parks are advisory only they are just pretty squares on a piece of tarmac.

The advice is to ignore completely it won't go further
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Thanks so much for help

Don't enter any correspondence with them otherwise they know they've sent the ticket to the correct address, just keep ignoring, knowing that they have to spend £2.50 each time with the DVLA to ensure that they're sending it to the correct address.

When I got a ticket from CP Plus for overstaying at motorway services, I ignored 3 letters from them and haven't heard from them since.

They can only claim from you any losses incurred. As it was a free car park, they have lost nothing by you parking slightly over the line. They're just trying it on. Any attempt at court action would be laughed out by the judge. Credit rating can only be affected if they take you to court (which won't happen), they win (which is even less likely) and you then don't pay up. That's just not going to happen.
  • Thanks all for your help I'm gun a put it in bin lol

    Hi all

Just an update my friend has received 2 Solicitor letters regarding this with Thomas Higgins partnership on. Do you all still think just ignore them as they are saying this is last chance to pay else they will go to court and il get a ccj! Actually worrying now about it all.

Just part of the scam. Do not worry. If this was a genuine solicitor they would only have sent one letter not two. Try taking an overall view, before taking anyone to court they have to know who the driver was, and they don't, do they?

Once the phoney solicitors letters arrive it means they are down to their last cards and will shortly be throwing their hands in.

The whole thing was a con from start to finish. Just keep ignoring, not long to go now.

PS Is this the letter? If so it is the last before they decide that she ISN'T a mug and give up their attempt to swindle her:
