Hi !
Thanks a lot for all those advices, eventually we bought a new quatrro deluxe travel system with a car seat and with a soft carry cot so hopefully the car seat will last 9 months, then the puschair say 12 ? Total cost 200 pounds at Toys are Us, I know it is still a lot.
We have looked at second hand but could not find anything for the moment and as I do not want to worry about that well it is done ! For the rest of the baby equipemnt, we will buy second-hand (thanks to the discovery of a second hand shop !) at the exception of the mattress for safety and personal reasons. I am dreading now the step down in our finances from 2 to 1 salary... Ooops wish us good luck !A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Hi,
I am glad you got one. Best of luck and keep us posted as to how everything goes.

Sorry - too late to advise on this one...
But we definitely preferred to have 'horses for courses'. Travel systems are 'masters of none' when it comes to babies. Not comfortable enough for newborns, not versatile or small/light enough when it comes to toddlers.
My advice to those reading this who haven't made a decision yet is: get a car seat, try to borrow a pram (or buy second hand) as it may only be useful for a couple of months and then find a pushchair from 3/6 months to walking (depending on how long you used the pram for).CarQuake / Ergo Digital0 -
I think they are just a ploy to get first time parents especially to part with huge amounts of money.
Nobody had them 10 years ago.

my 1st son is 3 & new baby due end november & am confused! we have about 4 pushchairs in the loft that we kept buying second hand cos found something smaller & more suitable but really fancied new travel system for baby as they are all quite heavy & big when folded - only just fit in my small car boot (none of the ones suitable from birth do!). been looking on net for cheapish one as thought would be good that pushchairs fold small enough for my boot but can still use from birth with car seat attached. cheapest 1 i found is Hauck flash 6 - anyone had one? could do with finding somewhere to try out b4 buying cheaper on net. anyone know where i could do this? help!Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0

the problems we had last time (son now 3) was fitting them in the boot of my small car! i fancy a travel system for new baby due in nov so hopefully pushchair bit folds small enough for boot but can still use from birth with car seat - most small folding ones not suitable from birth. can anyone give any advice on which ones are good? unfortunately have budget of £100 - been looking on net & hauck flash 6 looks ok for the money but can't find any reviews. anyone tried one?Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0

Updating an old article, but been really helpfull. We are expect our first child in June and advice on this thread of experienced mum's appears to be:
- Get a pram for newborn
- dont waste money on travel system
- Get a 3 wheeler for "off-pavement"

Having a hound as well, we would definitely want a 3 wheeler. Any more recent reviews or advice?0 -
You really need to weigh up
how long you will use a pram for
how much storage space you have in house / car
how much your budget is !
For me I wanted a large wheeled chassis with suspension for long walks.I didnt drive at the time so i wouldnt be humping it in / out of the car
although saying that it wasnt too heavy and it fitted in hubbys vectra boot very easily.
We had a 4 in one Mamas & Papas
carseat which also attached to chassis
carrycot which attached to chassis to make "pram"
carrycot used on rocking stand instead of using a crib / moses in the first few months
pushchair unit attached to chassis to make "pushchair" rearward or forward facing.
We loved the whole package and for us it definitely wasnt a "waste" having the travel system ,as if just popping into the shop for 5 mins then the carseat fitting onto the chassis was a godsend !
I am not a lover of the travel systems where by the forward facing pushchair lies flat and you attach the carseat inside it.Just my personal preference.
I recommend trying out as many as you can ,folding them ,seeing if they fit in car boot etc ! before making your final decision.0 -
whatever you buy make sure it fits in te car boot. Lady at Toys R Us told us few people had to bring it back when they realised it will not fit in the boot of their car when folded.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Depends what you want to do with it. If you spend lots of time out and baout, a travel system would probably be best.
The 4 wheel pram type chairs are lovely and comfy, if baby is going to be sending a lot of tiem in it.
The 3 wheelers are fantasticly comfy to push, but they do puncture, and that's a pain. But, if you're likely to really go off roading, I'd say go for it. Mine goes round the forest, over sand and shingle at teh beach, wet or dry, and it's smahsing.
But, as another poster has suggested, fitting in the boot isn't always easy. I have 2 pushchairs, one which parks in the hall, and one which lives in the boot.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0
