The best advice I can offer is buy one with large wheels.  It does not matter so much if they are three of four wheeled.  Tha larger the wheels the easier to push.  Also go on the weight of the push chair.  You do not want one that is too heavy remember you have to be able to lift it.  Go into a shop and try them all out.  I found independant shops much more helpful than the big retailers and usually cheaper too!

We mad the mistake of going for a cheap model with small wheels.  After a few months it was a struggle to push (i do have twins but at six months they weighed the same as the average 2 1/2 to 3 year old) changed to a large wheeled 3 wheeler as this was the lightest and easiest for me to lift sore etc.

    Good luck.

    Hi !
We are thinking of buying a graco deluxe travel system or a mamas & papas freestyler completo travel system ? Anybody with experiences about those ? and also very important ;D we would love to know where to get them as cheap as possible.

  • We had a Graco travel system for our first - ok for trips to the shopping mall but wheels are plastic and therefore no good for trips to park/walks offroad etc. We sold it to a friend and bought a three-wheeler travel system in the end.
The good thing about them though, is that you can transfer car seat to buggy without waking baby up!

i had one of these with my last child and i have to agree the attatched car seat was a winner for me, nothing worse than having to disturb a sleeping baby to trasfer them from pram to car, mine cost over £300 at the time (yes i was mad) theyve come down in price alot now though fortunatley, but i'd check out shop windows, supermarkets, local paper, creche, nurserys etc for ads, you can normally pick really good bargains up and still in excellent condition, i sold mine for £80 last year and i think i'd only used it about a dozen times :o :-[

I would definitly recommend kiddicare.com,not only do they guarantee to be the cheapest around, but they have free delivery as well. Also they have a sale on at the moment.
No one said it was gonna be easy!

    I've been Money Tipped!
My friend got a top of the range M+P travel system off ebay for £40 as she was willing to go and collect it. (Easier to do if you're still pregnant!) The pram had only been used a few times. If you do go for ebay, take a close look, or ask the seller, if the car seat has been in any accidents; v. important as the safety of the car seat may have been compromised if it has been.

I can also vouch for kiddicare.com. My son is 4 now but I've ordered a few things from them in the past - excellent prices, excellent delivery.

Just for the record, I would NEVER buy a second hand car seat.

Agree with Jodun - DONT buy a second hand car seat!!!
Even a slight bump can affect all the safety mechanisms in a car seat.
We have a Mamas and Papas Freestyler Tavel system. It was £350 but is so worth it, you get everything with it and if you are planning to use it alot it is a great purchase.
I use mine almost everyday, in all kinds of conditions, park walks, bumpy pavements, loading it up with shopping!!! We have had it five months and its still in mint condition. The M and P's is much more hard wearing than a graco, as someone previously mentioned, they are plastic. My friend went through three, as the wheels kept falling off her graco!!SO if you thnk that you will be out alot with it, its worth spending that wee bit extra.

Best of luck with your new addition.
    I think therefore i am....not TOTALLY thick!!!

That is scaremongering, normally handed out by salespeople cashing in on emotional blackmail.
I think you'd be able to see if a seat had been in a bad accident, which nearly all never have, luckily.
And if they cant even take a "slight bump", then choose a proven brand. Brands like Britax are good for the shortlist. If it says Baby Born or Tiny Tears then walk away. ;)
Ask friends and colleagues for opinions on their seats, rather than "well meaning" salespersons - they might even be close to selling it.
Definitely check the manufacturer website to see if it fits your car properly - that is the main criteria.

As far as 2n hand goes - Give em a sniff for sick though. You wouldnt want to be strapped in a seat that smelt of someone elses old sick would you? :-X
