I'd jsut return it with the old RMA number via a tracked method. They'll be able to locate your order from that. If they refuse at this point, atleast they now have the goods and you can simply contact your bank to initiate a chargeback0

Well they're not going to refund you for the goods if you don't return them anyway. During the returns process somebody is going to be a lessee for a little while, usually the buyer having returned goods and awaiting a refund.
If they don't refund then issue a chargeback with the card company. If you still have goods when issuing the chargeback i'm betting the retailers merchant bank will disallow the claim because of this -- so where does that leave you? with goods you don't want and the small claims court being your only remaining option -- in which case a judge will also order you to return the goods.
So return the goods or forget about it all together0
