I thought Roto was from Liverpool and travelled elsewhere for treatment which suprised me a little as Merseyside has alot of great specialists hospitals for Adults and Kids alike . Knowing many "poorly" children around the country attending Alder Hey & Different eye heart, nurology centers. At Aintree PCT for brain injurys . Its sad we need them but i feel lucky its on my doorstep. Plus we have Clatterbridge & Claire House on the Wirral,DorsetGirl wrote: »You have to travel all the way to Kent to get to Hospital - dont they have them in Liverpool? hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Until now, it wasn't something much challenged, because the costs of processing these applications were not deemed cost effective... however, we are now in a time where every potential savings are being considered so the applications of the rules are being tightened. A lot of patients who were receiving patient transport (not under the low cost/benefit scheme) will see themselves turned down, because of the rules of patient transport are that if you can get into a taxi, you can use public transport and therefore do not need an ambulance.
The scheme to reinburse patients on benefits is also starting to be tightened in some places. We are starting to look at the forms a lot closer, requesting evidence of appointment, of clinical limitations, not reimbursing for escorts unless clinically required/children, and denying reimbursement of taxi costs if the person is in receipt of HMR of DLA.
In your situation, I would be asking if you are in receipt of motability, and if so, I would only reimburse the cost of petrol, not the mileage.
And you are ?? have i missed something ? hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

My husband is provided with patient transport but if he had any level of mobility DLA he would be refused the service as he would be deemed to already have help.0

I have been harping on about this before. Personally I have only just started to claim travelling costs as I get DLA HRM. I believed that the DLA payment should be used tp pay for hospital visits, and not be allowed to claim anything back!
However on here I was slated for that opinion and was told that I was a 'Martyr' for not taking what I could.
So like everything else I do now, no one seems to think like me so I now take every penny that I am entitled to be it right or wrong morally.
Sorry, but why should I be the only one to have principles!0

So it only took a few people on the internet calling you a Martyr to change your principles.
They must have mattered to you deeply.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0

I agree with you. People travel from all over the UK to go to the unit I attend in Liverpool.
 It has some fantastic hospitals.
Kings & St Thomas's in London wouldn't touch me - they sent me to Liverpool.0

Yes that and my Social Worker, Welfare Rights Officer and the Council!!!
I had to admit defeat when I realised that nobody it seems does not claim travel costs when entitled to do so.0

I have approached Motability and they have given me permission to include my daughter who lives a little more than 5 miles away to be a named driver.
As for me I have returned my licence to the DVLA now and am now waiting for a response from them.
My wife can't really do the long distance driving as her Arthritis makes it too difficult. She is OK locally.0

Well work it out yourself nosey ! could somebody else drive ? I am the sole user of our mobility car but its not for me .

Yes it seems I have. Dorsetgirl and Copa Feela have already been warned by MSE to refrain from doing exactly that.0
