Why do people on here vilify benefit claimants so much?

Hi, Firstly I am a long term poster on another site and a member of B&W as well as rightsnet.
Whilst I have had some bits of good advice on here, this site is miles apart from the others.
Over the past years I have had many problems with the DWP, all of which have been sorted thanks to other forums.
Why is it that so many people on here are so unhelpful for people like me that wants to get as much in benefits as I can that I am entitled to?
If I listened to some of the comments on here I would not be getting what I do already.
If someone can reassure me that it is just me that has had a bad experience from this site, then I will ask questions. Much better to get two opinions than one.

I think you've either been unlucky or you've been selective in what you've been reading. I've come across a lot of really good advice on here and most people just want to help.
Posters may get their backs up when it seems someone is taking the mick (This is often when the OP gets angry that the answers given aren't what they want or expected) but in general people ask genuine questions and get helpful answers in response.0 -
I find myself sitting on the fence here agreeing with both of you. I've found myself on long term benefit after never being out of work before and lots of advice given to others has been of interest to me but, there are sometimes posters who get a bee-in-their-bonnet about scroungers and they should remember it could happen to them.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Because they dont have the guts to stand up to the bullies above them !
So they kick those who can not fight back in revenge for having no pay rise for 10 years, getting talked to like a dog all day by someone promoted above thier head, all that resentment.
Have a good kick at those below makes them feel much better.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Hi & thanks.
I am a member of rightsnet. I don't have access to all of the site, but do have posting priviliges because of my knowledge and work in other aspects of UK law. Benefit law is a world apart but very close to my own expertise.
Anybody can post on that site as long as they register and have an interest in benefit legislation.
I am surprised that you being a long time member of this site would or should already know that.0 -

I know the rules of rightsnet well, they are available here for all to see - to be allowed posting privelidge, you must fulfil those rules.
You have not said anything that would convince me you are a member.
If you are a member, what is your username, and why dont you post your question asking about MSE on rightsnet right now, so I can be convinced....[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
most people don't vilify benefits claimants. they only speak out against the bone idle who choose to use benefits as a money maker rather than a safety net.Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

IMO the only people that get vilified are those that act like the world owes them a favour.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0

This is my first posting - what are you suggesting?0 -
What Dorset girl said above.
Too many scroungers who are that goddam lazy they cannot be bothered to go to the tax office and enquire themselves as to what they may be entitled to. They would rather post anonymously on here and get dubious advice that they then throw in the face of their benefits advisor who then has to make sense of what they are enquiring about whilst running through the current "shopping list" of available benefits.
And this isn;t posted at anyone in particular.............it is posted at Everyone who currently claims benefits knowing full well they are available for work but either doesn;t want to because they may be financially worse off or are just happy to scrounge off society becuase they have very little morals or decency.
(if the above doesn;t apply to you then you are ok then..........aren't you?)0
