Buyer wants to return item and get refund

Hi,
I'm an ebay newbie and put some of my old jewellery up for auction.
I sold a gold charm bracelet and I've just had an email saying he wants to send it back and have a refund.

I just don't know where I stand...if anywhere!
They are trying to suggest its a child trinket bracelet..it fits me and I'm 16 stone! Yes it is a dainty bracelet, but it's an adults dainty bracelet.
Also that its not a charm bracelet, how can it not be, when its got charms on it???

I just don't know whether there is anything I can do or if I just have to refund him and suck it up.

I'm quite dissappointed with my first ebay selling experience.

I posted a picture and described the item to the best of my knowledge.
It seems they have an issue that its only 7 ounces and not just under 25, which is what I suggested.

What can I do?

No I didn't offer a returns policy, but then I didn't not offer one either , if you see what I mean.
    They paid through paypal.

Problem with paypal unless you sent the item by recorded signed delivery they could do a charge back on you.

If you did not offer a return policy you don't have to take the item back as your auction is just that if your not sure were you stand contact ebay directly and ask them you normally get a fast response from them.
    Kind Regards

Could you just clarify this bit please...was there an error in the weight of the item as a gold bracelet is highly dependent on its weight to judge value. If it is less than a third of the weight you suggested it is probably worth accepting a return and relisting later with the corrected details. If it was not mis described then you don't have to accept a refund and if it goes to a chargeback paypal could go either way with their decision.

return policy or not, if the buyer says its different, they can open an item not as described dispute...especially if there is a big discrepancy in the gold weight

Describe stuff honestly next time, give the buyer their refund..sorted.

    It wasn't the buyers fault.

if its going to cause hassle..I think I would just take it back, offer a refund, and relist again later...ensuring all description details are correct.
  • You really do have to spell it out in black and white. (Is that a correct saying???) Anyway I advertised an item of make up and the colour was '10 Noir Black'. One dozy bidder thought it was Ten Items in Black! Luckily they didn't win. Makes me wonder sometimes how plain you have to make it!

I thought I had listed it correctly. I did explain that my kitchen scales were not very accurate.

I'm not a jeweller, for goodness sake...I'm just trying to sell on stuff that I no longer need or use!

If you're saying that I have to accept the refund and suck it up, then I guess I have no choice, but it has certainly made me think hard about whether ebay is worth it!
