Are free school meals going to be included in benefits cap?

  • It seems there is alot of these schemes designed so that some children manage to get access to food that is good for them - such as the free milk and free fruit schemes. Its a sad reflection on society that a carton of milk and an apple at school may be the only nutritious food some children get every day.

My wife works in a school and it is a sad reflection that a school meal be it free or paid for is the only hot meal that child will get that day. You find alot of parents working first one to drop their kids off last ones to pick them up and too busy to cook at home. My sons primary school this got SO bad they open the gates for breakfast club lock them up and open them 10 mins befroe school.

This will sound realy bad and old fashoned but there is alot to be said about a stay at home parent. Kids need two parents FACT, people give up too easy on relationships these days! There are diffrent things a mum and dad can offer kids, as well as support for each other. In ideal world one should be the bread winner the other stay at home and look after the children I understand the two parents need to work we are the same however we have made it that I work very early mornings and home by 11am (my last few jobs all finnished by then) and my wife is there for breakfast bit. I clean the house and cook the evening meal. This has worked for us very well over the years and there is always someone home for the kids with time for the kids because all the work is done.

They should close all the after school clubs and breakfast clubs this just makes it easy to abandon kids!

People should also learn to budget better aswell alot of parents who both work could cut the cloth, do you need that new second car or that fancy holiday abroad?

How ever I think free school meals for all would be good it works in alot of other countrys and in italy the kids cook there own lunch!

What I think is sad it that in 2012 a man or woman can't goto work for 40 hours a week and earn a good wage to support his family without the govenment saying heres some money because you don't earn enough. You could say that people could have done better at school and earn more but I don't buy that as SOMEBODY has to do that job!!! Also I don't know who to blame? Do we blame companys for not paying enough? Do we blame the govenment for topping up the money? Do we blame US because we want a bargin? or you could just blame immigrants for keeping wages low. I don't have the answer!

    WOW that was a wopper!

I have three primary school age children - my older 2 go to one school and my younger son attends a different school a mile and a half in the other direction, which both open at 9am. What is your suggestion on how I should get all children to school on time?

Did people have respect for each other and a sense of community?
Could people goto work and get a decent wage?
Where loads of kids obease because parents give them a bigmac instead of a cooke meal?

Perhaps it should be free school meals for all.

I know people are saying that a Hot dinner is the only hot meal they get a day, but do they really need a Hot lunch and a hot tea? At Nursery kids usually get Breakfast (cold) Lunch (hot) and Tea (cold or crumpets/jacket potato/Toast)
