Q, I don't think that's fully true as I often get more than once notification from either the codes or chat board, and other boards on MSE even tho I've not gone on and read the last/first post

From what I can tell it's totally random sometimes.

Easiest way to make sure you always get emails? Tick 'remember my login' and click the link on each email

My understanding is that having visited the thread and read all the posts you get a SINGLE notification of a new post and no more, even IF dozens of posts are added, UNTIL you visit the thread and reset the notification "sender".

ALREADY having been notified that the thread needs to be looked at repeating it again and again is "pointless", and when you get there, as soon as you can, whether you find 1 new post or 20 depends on how long you've left it and how busy the thread has been.

The RE-ENABLING of getting a NEW notification again needs you to be LOGGED IN, visit the thread and read the posts IN RESPONSE TO the PREVIOUS notification you've been sent.

This is true as I found out when I realised I hadn't had any notifications for a few days. I'd missed one whilst I'd been out one day and when I eventually checked the thread, there were several entries, mostly dupes and rubbish mind, so I hadn't missed anything lol

The only thing I would add is that by logging in to any thread you are subscribed to, you will get notifications to the rest.

Exactly. It has become more random in the last 2 weeks.
