Just wondered generally how likely it is that you get in to the screening. Are they very popular,- and is there a high possibility of being turned away? The showing's at 6.30. Should we get there early?
Will take my chanes anyway as it's free after all:), just wondered what others experences are. This is all new to me.
Thanks.0 -

If you look at your ticket it should say 6pm for 6.30pm start (if it is at the O2 the times will differ). You should always try to get there for around 6pm but at many screenings you will find that people will queue earlier. Also most companies (Sky and SFF in particular) issue more tickets than there will be room for at the cinema. As such it isn't unusual for people to be turned away. If this happens, you may find you will be offered the opportunity to see a different film but not in all cases. It is sometimes up to the manager's discretion.
If this is all new to you then you should also know that you do not go to the Box Office with your e-ticket. Take the print out to the people who check tickets, they will either direct you to where you need to queue (if it is not obvious) or else direct you to the appropriate screen.
Sometimes, e.g. Sky and Virgin, there will be a representative who will meet and greet guests. They will be obvious from a company t-shirt.
At many screenings there will be security who will ask to inspect your bag and who will sit in on the film to check that people are not using their mobile phones. This does not happen at all.
On even rarer occasions, you will be asked to hand in your mobile phone but only for huge blockbusters such as Alice in Wonderland, Star Trek and similar. You can either guess that this will happen or else we get sent an email advising us that this will happen. If you are not happy about handing over your phone, don't take it with you.
Think that's everything, if there is anything else, shout out.0 -

I always tend to look on the 'free cinema tickets - codes only' thread but have missed a few new posts on there now. I remember some people saying that they got text messages when something new was posted on the thread. Can you still do this and if so how can i do it?
Thanks

You need to be quick off the mark when you get the alert too.

I went to see Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close in Cardiff last night with Sky screenings. ......... I really enjoyed the film and thought Thomas Horn was a very good young actor. The storyline was very original and having heard what the film was about i did not find it depressing at all.
I thought it was a brilliant film. Not perfect, but one of the most moving I have ever been to.
I cannot remember the last time I cried so much and so often during a film.
There were faults and weaknesses in the film and script, but Thomas Horn was absolutely superb.
His performance was spell-binding.0 -
It's heartening to see people post comments about ELAIC that echo my own as I am having to fight hard against the views of (mainly) men on Twitter who hate this film with a vengeance. Some having done so before seeing it and some hating it having not seen it yet! :mad:0

After seeing the film I read some reviews (presumably American) which seemed to be totally focused on the "twin tower" aspect.
As far as I am concerned, this could have been any year, any location - the twin towers was not the centre of the film, although it did add to the poignancy
It was the loss, guilt, confusion and isolation of a boy with Aspergers. How he 'coped' after he lost his beloved father.
I absolutely adored "The Blind side" and was struggling to understand the role of Sandra Bullock in ELAIC . Thankfully the last ten minutes answered all my questions, and also made me feel guilty that I had ever doubted the love and devotion of Oskars mother.
Wonderful to have such a fabulous sympathetic enlightened view of ASD. No disrespect to Hoffman, but personally I feel we have had only Rain Man for too long now. It is called a 'spectrum' because there is a wide variety of presentations.0 -
I never read reviews before seeing any film. I rarely read them afterwards either. I do make exceptions. However, the arguments I am fighting are from British journalists and bloggers who won't like the fact that 9/11 was used as a cheap plot device for what is in effect, a glorified scavenger hunt.
All the points you have mentioned, I have too albeit without posting spoilers. But I am banging my head on a brick wall in frustration.0
