I have never said what you are implying.
No I don't approve not checking the paperwork and bank statements.
Neither I approve companies 'hoodwinking' customers into buying something that they don't ask and don't need - a la notorious CPW & Co.

Usually it makes no sense to complain as it is impossible to prove that a customer was not able to use the insurance. However, in this case I see a slight possibility of claiming the refund successfully.

Your post said to claim for miss selling because op already have the insurance. How would shop would have known this? Do you expect them to read the mind?

You have Never said the op should have check the paper work or anything. If CPW include the insurance for a free month than if you don't cancel within a month you will start paying. If you don't like the policy don't buy a phone from them, find a shop that don't do this. This is the policy of CPW.

No. I just expect them to ask me if I need the insurance before selling it to me.

Government to crackdown on airline charges
Travel firms still flout rules on charges

    - this was very similar and this is changing, but you can keep blaming customers for everything. It is very easy to do and doesn't require much intellect.

My understanding is that a 'policy' is some document available to customers. Can you quote some policy saying that they add some insurance without asking whether I want it?

Banks had some 'policies' too. Now they are paying millions back. Not that I am a big fan of this campaign. Personally, I even lost my respect to Martin Lewis when he jumped on the bandwagon of compensation claiming - because in this case customers were well aware of the insurances sold to them - unlike in the case in question.

to be honest, its fairly common to get free insurance with handsets, which defaults to paid after the free period is over
    usually 1-3 months
however the OP would have seen this on the paperwork with the phone and bills if it was actually via T mobile
