I have had no trouble with Hotpoint. I have had a fridge freezer and washing machine which lasted 12 years (until I moved out) and I currently have a 5 yr old washing machine which is still going strong. No repairs as yet.
Hi Katejo
But your 12 yr old Hotpoint was made when Hotpoint was Hoptpoint and made in Peterborough. Quite a few years ago now they were about to go to the wall so Indesit bought them out. Now the only thing the same as your old machines in Hotpoint now is the badge.

I had integrated dish washer and oven, as they were not that expensive, but the integrated washing machine and fridge-freezer were too much, so I have stand alone ones. I personally do not see any point in integrated fridges and washing machines, but I don't like stand alone cookers. Not sure why. I suspect it is because it breaks the work surface up, and looks less neat, whereas a washing machine can slide under the work surface.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

I bought my Hotpoint fridge freezer and washing machine in 2005. Both still going strong!
Also, I did read some where that the cheaper end of Bosch appliances are not made in Germany but Eastern Europe."I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0 -
If you can afford to, buy quality. Stick with a good name. Bosch / NEFF / SMEG will give you many years of reliable service.
I for one would not recommend Bosch. I had a Bosch washing machine for only 4 years before it gave up the ghost. The Bosch dishwasher was utterly rubbish at cleaning the debris off the dishes.
I now have a Beko intergrated dishwasher, cost £219, had it for years and it works perfectly everytime.
Bosch as many other companies are not what they use to be, I certainly wouldn't pay alot of money for any appliances now.0 -
Any BSH made appliance is generally going to be better than anything made by Hotpoint/Indesit/Beko. Sure there might be the odd appliance from BSH that develops faults or dies prematurely. As far as I know, they make pretty much everything they sell in factories that are under their direct control. We’ve had to remove your signature. It doesn't really matter where they are made, what counts is the quality control, and materials used. A lot of 'Japanese' cars are made in the UK, and have a good reputation, unlike some UK makers such as the long dead Rover.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

I did the same re. hotpoint in 2006. The fridge freezer did die a few months ago but the washing machine is still fine.0 -

Not now they're not. So far as I am aware the deal with Whirlpool has ended now.

I recently checked Euronics when looking for a new tv. Even in the sale, they were much more expensive than Currys.
They have better deals on white goods as they buy them centrally, instead of the retailers having to order.
Maybe different areas of the country, but I have always found them to be cheaper than the sheds and more open to doing a discount on bulk buys like OP needs.0
