Intergrated Kitchen appliances

Options
Hello all,

I am in the process of buying a new fitted kitchen.

I have had quotes from Howdens and Magnet.

The Magnet one comes in at about £1500 more than the Howdens one before adding appliances. Howdens included for Bosch appliances but i am shocked at how expensive they are. (over £2k for a fridge, a freezer, an oven and a hob). Magnet were less so, including for Zanussi products.

I have had a look around online and think that i can get the appliances (still from decent manufacturers - Hotpoint, Samsung etc) for around £1000.

So, my question is, are integrated kitchen appliances governed by standard dimensions? i.e - easy enough to swap in and out.

Cheers

Uhm, Hotpoint aren't decent, they're Indesit with a badge on them.

As for Samsung... well I certainly wouldn't recommend any Samsung products.

There are also very, very few manufacturers in this arena that make everything that they sell. Quite a lot of badge engineering going on.

But yes, they are all standard dimensions.

  • Yes, all integrated appliances are the same dimensions (otherwise, it would be very difficult to get kitchen doors etc to fit them).

I bought most of mine off eBay (Whirlpool) Multi Function Oven, Induction Hob, Integrated Dishwasher all for less than £1000. All were brand new and Whirlpool were happy to register the Warranty.

Don't get pulled into buying them from the Kitchen co's as you will rarely get them at a good cost.

Your local independant electrical shops like Euronics centres, always have good offers on on white goods. I like my Bosch dishwasher, my indesit induction hob and oven and my daewoo american fridge/freezer all bought from my local Euronics store, cheaper than all the rest of the shops ( comet/currys etc)

The only problem you may find is that the kitchen co, mysteriously increase the price of the rest of the kitchen, if you buy your white goods elsewhere, as they will be losing the margin of the appliances out of the whole price given. Just be careful and do your maths , before jumping straight in buying the kitchen.
  • Surely the direct comparison is to see what you can get equivalent Bosch integrated appliances for less from elsewhere. Hotpoint and Samsung are not the same as many Bosch appliances and not in the same quality bracket in many cases
Integrated appliance are also more costly in general as they are housed in a smaller casing and are a compromise in general

If you can afford to, buy quality. Stick with a good name. Bosch / NEFF / SMEG will give you many years of reliable service.

  • Do your research and be careful with the sizes, if your appliances are integrated. Howdens should fit whatever appliances you want if you ask them.

They did my kitchen and did a great job

Bosch Neff and Siemens (all BSH group) I would agree - not Smeg who have a pretty awful reliability record but make very pretty looking appliances!

I have had no trouble with Hotpoint. I have had a fridge freezer and washing machine which lasted 12 years (until I moved out) and I currently have a 5 yr old washing machine which is still going strong. No repairs as yet.

I recently checked Euronics when looking for a new tv. Even in the sale, they were much more expensive than Currys.
