Got a Speeding Ticket - what happens now?
My oh was driving on 6 February and got flashed by a camera.
We got our ticket today of all days and it is our first one
What does it mean
I can see the points last 3-4 years and there is a £60 fine - what else is affected?
Does the insurance go up?
Does it affect jobs?

Shouldn't effect a job unless it is a driving one.
Your insurance will go up, but 9/10 it is very minimally (my friends annual charge went up by a whole £15
Points last 3 years, but I think they have to stay on your insurance for 5 years.:xmastree: :snow_laug Christmas Nutter :snow_laug:xmastree:0 -
3 points will have minimal effect if any. Get anymore though in the 3-5 year period and it will probably start to hurt a bit.0

This is not good advice.
You should advise the insurance company of any changes that affect your policy. If you don't and you have an accident, they may not pay up.
Call them and let them know, it's likely 3 points won't have any affect on your premium.0 -
Is there a problem hiring a car or van here or abroad with points? An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

Bad luck, but just look upon it as a tax, because that's all it is. The police are now tax collectors for the government.0

My policy states that you must disclose convictions "before renewal" but that may not be the case for all of them.
I was also asked when I reported an accident (which was someone else's fault and I didn't even use my insurer to claim) whether any driver on the policy had had any convictions since renewal.0 -

I did this when I got three points and they told me I didn't need to tell them until renewalNever buy a stupid dwarf -

Read your policy - it will tell you if you need to tell them. Points also have a code... so depending on where he was speeding (in a 30 zone for example or on the motorway... they have different codes) the code for in a 50 mph zone and above rarely result in any change on your license. (If it's only 3points - more than that and it might...) but doing 40 in a 30 zone gives you a different code on your license... Insurance companies WILL penalise these harder (I guess higher risk of death if you hit someone and these are the most expensive claims... Car= approx £20k if nice and shiny (and not a porche etc) Injury or death due to careless driving = name your price tag!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
