Could it be that the taps themselves are faulty? ie the 'internals'.
It's the sink taps with the problem, isn't it? Might be difficult to check, but if the bath taps are of the same design/range - see if it happens to them as well.
Perhaps try suggesting to them that they try replacing the tap unit.0
