Personally, I think it's a case of the either the taps not being fitted correctly, or simply not being suitable for the bath. ( I don't know, but maybe some sinks and baths have different size holes and only certain taps will fit correctly).

This. Not all furniture and fittings are compatible with each other.

Were the fittings (taps etc.) chosen by you or did they come as standard with that basin/bath? If standard then they should be compatible, and the company are at fault. (IMHO).

yes the company that fitted the bathroom suite ordered the goods in. My husband has spoken to another plumber tonight and the plumber says he has never heard of this before x

    Hello everyone

As promised here is the update.....

I called the manufacturer today and explained that the fitters have told me that i cant get the taps and surround by the taps wet and especially told NOT to use the shower on them as apparently they are not designed to have that much water on them, and he really did not get where i was coming from. I would go as far as say that he thought it was a wind up!!!

Anyway, he has sent me an email saying that he thinks from what i have told him that they have not fitted them properly as of course they can get wet. As for using the shower, he told me that I should ask the company to put some clear silicone around the base of the tap and under the tap to doubly make sure it wont leak, but the company who fitted it are saying not to do that as the fitting instructions dont tell them to do that....

I have the company coming here to see my husband at 6pm. Any ideas where we should go from here please as i still owe them money and im not prepared to pay the rest this evening and the bank will be shut so he cant take me there again!!!

    Many thanks again xxxx

I wonder why!! A company telling you that you cannot get taps wet is crazy.

Aren't most shower heads above taps anyway, having a shower without getting the taps wet is next to impossible!!!!!

Don't pay the remaining balance until the work has been completed to a satisfactory condition. Whilst you owe them money you are in a strong position -- if they still refuse let THEM spend money to go to court, if you pay them then you no longer have the upper hand.

I have already posted by thoughts on this in #8. That's what I would do.

thankyou everyone, my husband has now come home and phoned them and left a message asking them to come round and show him what they mean about not getting the taps wet. Im going to phone the manufacturer tomorrow and ask for there advice. I did go to the bank voluntarily as they were saying that i was withholding payment. My dad and husband are a bit annoyed with me for doing that but i didnt like the man coming round when i was on my own like that.

Im normally quite able to deal with these things but i have no idea about plumbing:) xxxx

I am sure that even a suggestion of demanding to accompany them to your bank is a criminal offence under harassment laws.
