How many cables from the dish go into the box?
For Sky + to work properly you need 2.

two cables going into the box. I am no longer subscribed to sky but trying to get free channels through the dish/box as I have no aerial in the house.

If you have 2 cables going into the box from the LNB and only one showing then I would guess that the LNB is faulty.
Have you tried your box elsewhere?
Try swopping the 2 input cables over and see what you get in the menu you were in.0
