Nick, I remember the time when we used to look for bottles to take back to the shop to get the deposit back on them :D Used to be a nice little earner when we were kids.

Aww bless that brought back some memories. We used to this and collect wastepaper and rags when our Dear Mum was skint.
and then queue up at a local Bakery for a great big bag of yesterday cakes mishapes etc.If there was enough left we would then go to the greengrocer for "Penny Specs" fruit with a bit of bruising or wrinkly bits. Made me laugh thinking of this because nowadays unless you are very alert you get these in your bag at full price.

Many thanks for the memory, made my day!.

We used to get the batter pieces at the fish & chip shop - I think we asked for the scratchings - could only afford a bag of chips between my sister and I - so we really enjoyed the extras.

    Hello Everyone

I'll have to do a Feb update in my signature later. My darling dad died suddenly on Sunday and helping mum and supporting the family are all that's important right now so the receipts will be added up later and I'll catch up on how you're all doing if I get the chance. I've just updated my post on the 2nd Purse Challenge and I must say that having a small stockpile of staples has been very handy over the last few days, not only for me but I've been able to help mum and my sisters out with things that they have run out of.

So very sorry Ess-six, sending love to you and your family xxx

  • Declaring at £349.58 so a teeny 42p under!!! Every little helps.

When we were on holiday last year by the coast we heard people asking for scraps in the fish and chip shop. Turned out to be all the lovely crunchy batter pieces. See you all over on March xx

Sorry to hear about your news Es-six :(

    Well - I'm reporting a disappointing £172.38, which is £22.38 over!
Now if ONLY I had stayed away from Mr T for the £6 off £30 spend I would have be fine.

Anyway - best pop over to Marchs thread to start afresh. Good luck and well done to everybody! :T

yes - wooligans is a nickname we gave ourseves on the knit a square thread
i do a lot of knitting for charities and good causes (mostly via the knit a square thread on here or the loving hands website)
im 50 this year so wanted to mark the occasion by challenging myself to knit 50 item for a good cause. a very dear lovely lady who used the name mayflower on here and loving hands sadly passed away recently she designed her own patterns and left a wonderful legacy of patterns for us to knit up.
as my challenge i have decided to knit 50 of her patterns for good causes - another reason i chose mays patterns is that my brothers partner had premature twins last year one is now home but 6 months later the other continues her fight and remains desperately poorle in hospital.
so im knitting 50 of mays designs for premature babies that will be given to hospitals for use in the baby and prem departments.

sorry its a long winded answer and i hope that it makes sense to you.

off to find the recipie for butternut squash bake now i can make it without but would sooner give the proper recipie on here
not longwinded at all. Totally beautiful. The people I meet on mse and so lovely. You are all angels :A:A:A
