One more week to go till payday - just got to work on damage limitation
Thank you to everyone who posts their recipes - (I am not very good at just making things up!)
I go through them to see if I can make them with anything I already have in before doing my meal plan/shopping list.
You all do a fantastic job.
Tiger Feet I think I am going to try your risotto in the SC - I have never been successful in making a risotto the rice always ends up hard or a soggy mess! But I do like to use my SC on workdays so will give it a go.

    hi to all,

i have been good this week the only cash i have spent out was fro transport etc... oh, and 20p for some photocopying at uni....

Sorry Nimbo, i missed this earlier on!

Its not going too bad thanks. I think i have decided to shop weekly instead of monthly. I am so used to shopping weekly so i think thats the best thing to do, and some how £60 a week sounds more doable than £250 a month. No idea why though :o

Thanks to everyone else for their suggestions too, i have been reading if not posting, so its all really appreciated.
  • Popped into bm on my walk into town yesterday and picked up £2.96 worth of bargains - spaghetti, tacos and a small bag of creme eggs for my ds who finally gave up his last dummy yesterday...

OH - have you noticed the loo roll doesn't unroll very easily?
SS - Really? ( knowing have followed OS advice to squash rolls slightly)
OH - yes, must remember next time we're buying to make sure they're on the top of the shopping

  • I have been having a look in my freezer this morning because i really have got to stretch the budget even more than i thought this month :(. I have got three tubs with turkey and two tubs with pork in, this is from Christmas. Will they still be ok to use? They will be ideal for curry, pies etc. I don't want to use them and we will all be ill.
Thankyou in advance for any replies.

So long as they were frozen soon after and have not been defrosted then frozen again they will be fine. In fact they will last for ages, but the quality will decrease over time. Make sure having defrosted you thoroughly cook them. They should still be scrummy :D

Morning all went to mr t yesterday and came out £84.00 poorer :eek: knew it was a bad idea to go...............I hate SM :rotfl::rotfl:. managed to stick to my list more or less so was expecting it to be high but did get the coffee on offer, 5kg of sugar, 10 kg of rice (not a clue what to do with this so will need to look up some different rice meals) 2x washing liquid,2x washing up liquid (they are hiding in the cupboard at the front door with the other ones i bought on special as have no room left in the kitchen to store them ) the rice is under the stairs with the 2 5litre bottles of oil (again on special) i see a theme running here :D. The kids pasta is on top of the cupboard with the 30 tins of beans (offer again) I also bought 3 packs of mince and have divided it up into 6 packs. Was going to nip into HB to get some loo roll today but am thinking i need a NSD so will leave it for a few days (have enough to last a week at least). Am still having problems prising my bulk buy purse open (silly as that is what it is for).
  • Just a quick update of extra spend on milk(lots of porridge still being eaten) and some cheese on offer at local shop = £3.64

Hope everyone has a great frugalistic day.

Am off to raid the freezer to see what we can have for tea

123budget, re rice in the SC, I have read that using easy cook rice helps, don't know if you have tried this or if others have found different things? It did work when I did it tho not exactly the same as a risotto but a great deal less bother!
