What a carry on! I got back from shopping and was unpacking when I got a phone call from my mum. Apparently she has had a mild stroke over the weekend but only just found out whilst at the GP's. She has to go up to the local stroke unit but is worrying who will look after her dog. I had to phone my younger sister at work to let her know as she lives nearest. I live about 1hrs drive away and cannot get there very quickly as have to wait for children to get in from school(I'm not sure if they've got their keys with them). So will probably be visiting mam tonight. I was just giving myself a pat on the back for being more organised than usual.

I will up date my total in a little while. Need to calm myself down first.

Oh thats awful :( hopefully everything is ok with your mum!! Deep breaths, huni!! I am sure if she didn't realise what happened the chances are she will be fine and they are just wanting to monitor her - let us know how she is won't you?

It happened on Sunday. She said she felt ill and when my niece phoned her she sounded 'funny'. Mum obviously didn't recognise it as a stroke. She has had high blood pressure for as long as I can remember. She finds it impossible to relax and worries about the least thing. Having said that the last 7yrs have been stressful. We lost my eldest sister quite suddenly and we have had to deal with the aftermath. My sister was separated from her husband who had been battering her. When she died he got custody of the 3 children, 2 of them ended up in hospital because of his abuse/neglect. Mum took the girls in for a while but being teenagers they wound her up and did not treat her properly. Due to her health they went to foster homes. This has all added to the stress. It has been stressful for all of us but especially mam who still has not grieved properly for my sister. When I get phone calls like this I immediately think of what happened with my sister and a few years earlier with my dad. When I got the phone call when my sister was taken ill somehow I sensed it was v. serious and had to get there straight away. I do not have the feeling of urgency with my mum, so perhaps it will be ok.

  • Hi All,

Really sorry to hear about all the rubbishy things that people seem to be dealing with at the moment :-S Massive hugs to all who need them!

I'm definitely not going to make target - but I've got some change that I need to add tonight so will declare my final total tomorrow.

Managed to put £140 in savings this month, plus pay off £300 of CC and still only £150 down in OD. (OD is graduate account so 0% below £1000). I need to have it cleared by June though so very slowly slimming it down. Reduced it from £800 just before Xmas so should be all good :)

I have a question - I'm currently in the process of selling a car and have what could be a serious nibble. If it does sell, would you count this towards your money earned? I've got another car to get rid of as well (I was very lucky - bought my own but took it off the road as it is a classic car - then inherited a modern car when my grandmother died). I now live with OH who also has a car so mine have been in storage for ages and it's really time for them to go. I'm trying to save for a deposit so need all the pennies I can get!

Also - I'm not currently adding money saved in my monthly totals - do other people do this? For instance - the £140 that I managed to put in my savings account this month have not been included.

    Thank you all!
