I of all people know how lonely and miserable valentines day can be, sometimes even when you do have someone in your life.

this time last year I had a, well I suppose technically we were engaged and on valentines day I got dressed up for him and had his favourite dinner on the table when he got in from work. I don't even remember getting a card, thats when I knew it wouldn't work between us. this year I'm alone and all I could wish for is someone who wanted to make a wee fuss over me, make me feel special, but it certainly won't be tomorrow.

so this thread is for us dfw's/mse'rs who either don't have someone in our lives or who won't get spoiled today. feel free to rant your little hearts out over your misery and join me in getting totally wasted (after tea time that is!).

and just know that I love each and every one of you, so you may not have a valentine in the 'real world' but you got me on here!

    muchos kisses to you all

Possibly a bit forward for a first post (although I've been lurking for ages) but if you were in my neck of the woods I'd take you out for lunch today to lift your spirits.:) Life's too short to worry about such things - and the sun's shining down here which makes all the difference to how I feel - how shallow is that? :embarasse

and if you were in my neck of the woods i'd totally take you up on that offer! :D if the sun were shining up here it'd probably make me feel better too! but it's a bit dull, tho dry...

well thanks everyone for all the lovely thoughts. and your right, a matter of hours can make a difference crawley girl...after i logged off last night i got a text from the source of my recent broken heart with a very good explanation of why i hadn't heard from him. things aren't totally fixed and i'm still not celebrating vd (cheers for that min!), but i now have a message sent on 14th of feb which says i make someones everything and thats about the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me.

my mum and stepdad have a great xmas thing going with cards, a few years ago they bought each other huge big cards, then they bring the same ones out every year so no new spends! it would work too with valentines...

Coz if you are...you have YEARS and YEARS to waste money on Valentines day. Miss/Mr Right will toddle along soon...don't worry.

I'm home alone (apart from a 2 year old who is in bed). My OH sailed for the Gulf this morning on a big grey ship.

He did receive my valentine present before he went - I sent him some half price raspberry flapjacks from tesco.

I had a card that arrived stamped "postage underpaid". At least he put a stamp on it - one year he forgot completely.
