I of all people know how lonely and miserable valentines day can be, sometimes even when you do have someone in your life.
this time last year I had a, well I suppose technically we were engaged and on valentines day I got dressed up for him and had his favourite dinner on the table when he got in from work. I don't even remember getting a card, thats when I knew it wouldn't work between us. this year I'm alone and all I could wish for is someone who wanted to make a wee fuss over me, make me feel special, but it certainly won't be tomorrow.
so this thread is for us dfw's/mse'rs who either don't have someone in our lives or who won't get spoiled today. feel free to rant your little hearts out over your misery and join me in getting totally wasted (after tea time that is!).
and just know that I love each and every one of you, so you may not have a valentine in the 'real world' but you got me on here!
muchos kisses to you all

You never never know. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason and I reckon it is just cos you haven't met the right guy. You may indeed meet him tomorrow, you never know. Or a card may arrive in the post.
But without feeling like a total misery, I think Valentines has been built up into this big deal but if you love someone, truely love them, then you love them 365 days a year 24/7 and you don't need to celebrate 14th Feb as a special day cos every day should be special and you shouldn't need today's date to show your love and appreciation. Totally soppy but how I feel.
Have a :heartpuls from me!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -

Totally agree :rotfl:0 -
It doesn't have to be expensive - merely thoughtful. One of the best presents I ever had was a tin of jam tarts with little hearts cut from pastry stuck on the top.

Honestly - I think it's just a pseudo festival dreamt up by big business in order to get more dough from us.
Someone who doesn't show his/her/its love all through the year is not worth having.
And good on you lynsayjane for holding out for what you want and need. Accept no substitutes!0 -

More money to pay towards the me fund, in my case. Hard life!
Actually, SS, I thought you said my card was in the post? Havent received it yet....
Just heard on the radio that someone was murdered in a Valentines Love Triangle, haha, makes me glad I am single. (sorry if that sounds heartless, obviously its not a nice thing to have happened!!).

For all those of you without valentines - love yourself instead!
Tonight I'm staying in with 2 people who love me (DS & DD) going to cook our favourite tea, I'm goint to have a little (or large) glass of wine and laugh at all the men who loved and lost me and obviously didn't deserve me! For dessert I'm having a cadbury creme egg.0 -
Aw that was lovely of you - I agree, hold out for the man who makes every day of the year special. One of my favourite sayings is,
"No man is worth your tears, and the one that is, won't make you cry"

Hugs to you today xx"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

I really don't believe in the commercialism of valentine's day, but it would be nice just to have a small gesture put my way. He can't even say that he spends the rest of the year telling me he loves me.........because he doesn't.....i won't be getting anything again and I was going to bak a heart shaped cake or do a heart shaped treacle tart tonight, but i just don't see why I should bother
