deceiving supermarket offers

Whats even more irritating (and a little humiliating) is when you only take pocket change and get to the til to realise you've been caught short0

Lidl had a big full page add yesterday and prominent was the offer for Finish dishwasher tablets, 54 for £3 odd. But under the big sign in the shop all the packets were 28 or 30 tablets for the price of £3 odd!!!! Most noticeable was the fact that the in shop sign did not state how many tablets were in the box! What a blatant con!!!!!!!!!!0

T'was the only other shop between Tesco and home, so not much choice in the matter.marywooyeah wrote: »Lol I wouldn't pay £1.50 for it either! My local Sainsbury had a habit of that a few years back - big sign says "3 for £5" or whatever with smaller print specifying which variations it applied to. The sign being directly in front of the ones that weren't included... I spotted it at when the discount didn't go through the checkout and took it to customer services to complain. (OK I wasn't in regular work then so I had reason to check and time to make the point). After the third time I e-mailed head office and indirectly accused them of discriminating agaisnt the partially sighted - which seemed to do the trick.Special Offer - 4 tins Heinz Classic Range of Soups - £2
Amongst the tins on display are others that are not in the Classic range (but look the same other than the word Classic on the label).
Customer picks up 4 soups at random and finds when they get home that they've paid top price for all of them because one wasn't a Classic.I need to think of something new here...0 -
I don't think they're deliberately being deceptive. Most people will pick something up, realise there's a better offer and dump their item there. I see it all the time.
Also, you gotta check yourself what exactly is included in the offer. The offer label will often list the size/quantity of the product, so you can only blame yourself if you pick something up that isn't the correct size.0 -
Yep - I check it.Miss_Scrooge wrote: »Also, you gotta check yourself what exactly is included in the offer. The offer label will often list the size/quantity of the product, so you can only blame yourself if you pick something up that isn't the correct size.
Now what about when the offer is a corporate one and the signs are in all the stores and the leaflets shoved through doors but that branch doesn't actually stock the required size/quantity/variety?I need to think of something new here...0
