deceiving supermarket offers

Hi,
I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar in their local supermarket.
I shop in my local Morrisons regularly but lately have noticed something which is concerning me.
Morrisons often have many offers advertised in store however I have noticed that on many occasions the product on the shelf does not match the one that the offer relates to. After being caught out myself (and thinking it was an easy mistake for the shop to make) I decided to take more care. However, I feel that the amount of times this is happening is unacceptable. For example just recently muller yogurts were on offer but trays of mullerrice were mixed in on shelf, which would result in a customer paying full price for all items. Philidelphia cheese 300g was on offer for 99p, but 200g tubs philidelphia were on the shelf in question. The 300g tubs were further along on the shelf no where near the offer sign! 6 eggs were on offer but in its place were 12 eggs. I could go on but wont because I sound like all I do is trawl supermarkets for mispriced items! I did go and ask a member of staff about the offers and say that the products were in the wrong place but were told that they didn't know what they were doing there. No attempt was made to move them! I hate to rant but I hate injustice and although I know part of the responsibity lies with us the customer to check the product, I feel for those who are being caught out by this happening. I have found this on many occasions- is this employee error? Thanks for reading.

this happens in One Stop Stores as well0

OP maybe contact Morrisons about it? might just that store & the staff putting out the promotions need more training?!Norfolk_Jim wrote: »this happens in One Stop Stores as well
Doesn't happen in any of my local One Stop store (have 3 locally)0 -
I once purchased a roll of clingfilm, the offer sign said something like 97p so imagine my surprise when I get to the till with just 1 item and the price is nearly £4
I was a bit annoyed of myself for not reading the advertisement properly - but equally shocked some people actually pay this for some clingfilm!
But I have noticed this alot. Now everytime I decide to buy something on offer read the sign properly (including weight) to ensure it's referring to the item I want!0 -
Had this ourselves.
Special lower price for a particular brand, but a different brand on the shelf, no sign of the advertised brand.
Asked an "assistant" where the advertised ones were, he disappeared for a while, came back to say they did not have any.
Asked him to remove the misleading price tag, to be told that they are not allowed to.
I wonder how many poor souls were caught out?.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Funnily enough, I just noticed this yesterday. On the Aisle end, the promotion was for 3 variants of one product, but several others were on the shelf. I think in future, I will be doublechecking Morrison's as stringently as Tesco.
It's a bad, bad thing for them to do.0 -

I had the same experience in Morrisons, I asked the assistant to take the price tag off, he did so, but somehow I was suspicious, I went back 2 minutes later, there it was, back on the shelf again, he was standing not too far away, after a dirty look to him, I made sure he saw me take the price tag off myself, put it in my trolley and took it to a customer services manager and and told them exactly what I thought of their shifty practices.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Not as bad as the other week, sent OH into Tesco Metro for foil, he came back empty handed, saying he wasn't spending £4.50 on tinfoil :eek: Went to Spar on the way home and it was £1.50"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

It is to do with Trading Standards and legal obligations. Everything must have a price and if there isn't a price on a shelf, they could get fined for it.
I am not advocating that the CSA's leave the incorrect labels on the shelf but maybe that is why they are told to do that.
I do hate deceiving offers as well like 2 for £3 for 2 bottles of 750ml fabric softener when you can buy a 1.5l bottle for £2!Competition Wins:

This happened to me before Christmas on a rare trip to Mr Ts - I picked up a couple of blocks of cheese on a gondola end in a so-called 2 for £4 promotion. This was one occasion on which I didn't scrutinised the recepit before leaving. The cheese in fact cost £8 and was of course non-returnable.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Regular problem in Tescos, too, with Heinz Soups.
Special Offer - 4 tins Heinz Classic Range of Soups - £2
Amongst the tins on display are others that are not in the Classic range (but look the same other than the word Classic on the label).
Customer picks up 4 soups at random and finds when they get home that they've paid top price for all of them because one wasn't a Classic.
Another - noticed last year :
4 tins Branston Beans for £1 - the notice alongside the single cans on the shelf (no multipacks in sight, or even a space for them).
Pick up 4 singles and get charged 56p each because the deal applies only to multipacks which are displayed in another part of the store.0
