I assume you mean reclaiming charges from US banks.
From what I've read US banks are as rapacious as their UK counterparts. Obviously US laws are different, but as far as I know there is no similar way of reclaiming in the US and googling various key words doesn't throw up any equivilant bank charges sites like MSE, Penalty Charges, Legal Beagles or Consumer Action Group here in UK.
There have been several articles in US financial magazines commenting on reclaiming from UK banks, none of which mention any similar consumer movement in the US0 -
The answer is that there are groups looking at that side of things in the US but mainly interchange charges.
If you look for a site called bankofamericasucks, you should be able to find something that you can get involved with.0 -
Thank you for all the feedback...I've searched myself and came up with nothing??? I'll check out the bankofamericasucks site.

I seem to recall that penalty clauses are valid in some US states - certainly in business to business transactions although not sure about consumer contracts.0

I know this might come out and sound a little bold, but what would I need to do to start or stir *lol this "Reclaiming of Backcharges" revolution here in the USA? Please help...the banks are getting out of control and robbing us with their charges.
Much Thanks - Dreamer4Life :A0 -
I will be the first to sign up if we can start a similar 'revolt' in the USA. I've had so many $39 overdraft fees for ridiculously low overdraws - many for under $10, most for under $5 and several for under $1, like 27 cents or 12 cents. Now if that isn't fair!! And, why do they approve these withdrawals in the first place if the money isn't there? That tells me it's all a scam...done purposely for millions in added easy revenue!!! There is no regulation at all - and someone needs to go to jail! It's ironic because the people who suffer the most are in the lower income brackets and are hurt the most. Only a few overdraft fees at $39 each is enough to drown someone for months to come. It dominoes into a huge problem, only to invite more overdrafts in the weeks that follow. Can't tell you how many times I have seen this happen to innocent people, a simple mistake turning very ugly. I know someone who is claiming bankruptcy because the overdraft fees multiplied exponentially until half his paycheck was just for the fees. He just couldn't recover. Now that is sad!! Bankers getting rich on inhumane practices like this...it INFURIATES me! So, who will lead the march in the USA?0
