    hi
A friend gave me her old bread maker and i'm loving it, but my toaster does not like the thicker slicers so i'm having to use my grill for toasting. Now I know the logical answer is to cut thiner slices :rotfl: but they are not what i'd call doorstops and somehow cutting too thin a slice out of home made bread does not seem right, homemade bread is suppose to be more chunky :D then shop brought sliced.

So question is what toaster would anyone recomend that takes thicker slices.?

I have just bought some toaster sandwich bags (the sort you put in a pop-up toaster.
Only the sandwich will not fit in my toaster  (I used medium sliced bread)

Wondered if anyone can recommend a toaster which has a wide enough gap for toasted sandwiches, crumpets etc?
    Thank you

This is what I bought last year ;) and it's great for crumpets and HM bread. Take a look at toasters and some have a rack inside them which allows variable thicknesses of bread to be toasted - that's what you want :D

I'll merge this with that thread later.

  • I have just ordered a dualit 2 slice toaster and 2 sandwich baskets from JL and hang the expense. We used one when we did self catering last year and it was a dream to use, my dh kept going on about how nice it was.
  • I have a Kenwood toaster and it is great for HM bread, crumpets, muffins and tea cakes plus it has a toasts beautifully and even plus the reheat button and defrost are a real bonus

I have a Dualit, which I shall be listing on Ebay soon, only getting rid as getting an everhot, so no point turning the toaster on and using more electric, but they are sturdy as anything, and very well made, I have come to the conclusion it actually works out cheaper and better to buy quality and replace less often. Mind you the Tesco value toasters are so, so cheap, it would take a lot of them to get to the price of a Dualit! But think of all that landfill!

I bought a 2 slice Dualit when I moved back into my own place. Was expensive at £69 and I did umm and ahh over it for a long time but eventually decided that I was paying for quality and it would last for a long time.

I judged this by my parents 4 slice Dualit which received a severe amount of work and abuse from my sister and I as teenagers and seeing as it's still going strong and I'm now in my thirties it's a quality piece of kit :D
