hi all
have read this thread with interest and i must say what a can of worms you have started here gerretl?
think your going to get slated here mattosprey as everyone nearly who has put somethink on here has never speeded or done anythink wrong in there life but i must agree with the minority on this one.
maybe if we bought the greencross code man etc etc back onto tv (or maybe made a playstation game seeing as thats all they seem to do) about it and child awareness and how they should behave etc sorry ranting but why should a moterist be always done for doing somethink that is not over excessive i have a 4 year old son and he knows to stop look and listen etc so i think maybe parents shold spend more time educating there kids how to be responsible.
going to get slated myself as well now mattosprey by the politically correct people now oh well0 -
My insurance (Elephant) went up about £100 when I got 3 points.
They wouldn't do anything about it, so I switched to ESure who were £100 cheaper with the points than Elephant were without them!0 -

Anyway. I need some advice on how this will affect my insurance etc. I drive for a living (always in the limit). Is it worth contesting, or will it be a lost cause, since I am an employed middle class man with a steady income (i.e. I can pay the fine)
All advice welcome.
Personally I dont think it is worth contesting - my dad always constests on principle any sort of ticket that has been handed out by a computer. He has had a fairly good track record and has often succeeded in getting 0 points or alternatively a point reduction. Driving is essential to his job so he has been able to argue this to avoid bans. He has only been banned once for doing 145mph on a motorbike - and was on this occaision actually caught and ticketed by a policeman (as opposed to a camera).
For 3 points on a clean license though I dont think it is worth the stress of court appearances - and a lot of insurance companies wont charge you extra for just 3 points.
NB BEFORE ANYONE GETS SANCTAMONIOUS: HE IS MY FATHER AND 20 YEARS OLDER THAN ME. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER HOW HE LIVES HIS LIFE AND THERE IS NO POINT TELLING HIM TO GROW UP AS HE IS NOT GOING TO. JUST POINTING OUT IT IS POSSIBLE TO CONTEST SPEEDING FINES. I KNOW HE IS IRRESPONSIBLE (BUT NO MORE SO IMHO THAN PEOPLE WHO DRIVE AT 50 ON THE MOTORWAY IN THE MIDDLELANE ETC).
REMEMBER: IT IS NOT JUST SPEED THAT KILLS BUT BAD DRIVERS.0
