Initially, I just asked you a question, it was when you started attacking other people I got p*ssed off. Fair enough you might not agree with what they've got to say, but that's no reason to abuse them.

Yes, I see your point that there are people who do far worse than you and get away with it, it's really annoying when you've made one mistake and they do it all the bleedin' time.

I don't see any further point in either me or anyone else posting about the "error of your ways", as I think the thread may have gone too far from both camps, and I'm sorry for my outburst back there.

Back to your other question, unless you are with an insurer who specifically requires you to have no points, it is very unlikely that it will affect your insurance, as sp30s are extremely common. Also the fact that you do so much mileage, would take into account the increased likelihood of your having an accident, or a fixed penalty notice.
Thank you Impy, and I am sorry if I lost my rag. Just winds me up that so many years caution seems to have been for nothing. Its the same feeling I got when some knobhead gave me negative feedback on eBay, and ruined my 100 % record. He later apologised, but the damage was done.

Do critisise what they say, and what they do, especially if what they say is different to what they do. They can help that"

  • My DH just reminded me that his insurance went up £54 when he got a ticket last year. (45 in 40 area at 5.35am in Derby) Anyway he rang around and got anther quote which was £78 cheaper than the previous year. If it hadn't been for the ticket he wouldn't have bothered ringing round so in the end he was £18 in profit!

I hate kn8bends who do that. I've just had feedback blackmail with a buyer who ran me around like a silly !!!!!!. he didn't want to pay postage, so he said he wanted to come to my house to collect. I said that I hadn't offered this as an option, and so I took it to him.

Didn't even thank me and slammed the door in my face.

He didn't leave me feedback, and as I had gone to quite an effort to deliver it, I thought i deserved some.

He replied with "Why should I thank someone so awkward - email me again, and I'll neg you!"

I'm inventing an online death ray as we speak.

my OH did something very similar recently, we usually laugh at him for driving like an old man so we were all surprised. Anyway, I think it's called an SP30 and it doesn't make much difference to your insurance if it's the only offence so I'd just pay up and take the points.
  • IMVHO an SP30 will have little or no impact on your premium (as Jaymac pointed out).

Insurers accept that, from time to time, virtually everyone (even those who contribute to this forum) will speed, some excessively, some marginally.

Some will get caught by the ever increasing, revenue producing speed cameas that have very little to do with road safety.

Regular offenders are, however, a different matter, and curry no favour with most law abiding folk (again, and particularly with, those who contribute to this forum).

    Just be carefull out there!
  • If you want to know more info about speed cameras and defence against fines etc then this is the site for you http://www.pepipoo.com/ .I know that in some parts of the country if you are just a few miles over the (detection) limit then they will offer you the option of a speed awareness course so you can curb your evil speeding ways instead of just giving you points and a fine. Might be worth checking out if this is an option in Brighton.Good luck.

I drive for a living (always in the limit).

    Always? ;):p

I doubt it will affect it much at all. They are so common place now that most insurers won't bat an eyelid. You might see a small rise but nothing to hit the wallet to hard.

Good post TOMCAT. But IMHO there's no chance of Brighton & Hove Council missing any chance to raise money to plough back in to their mad traffic-banning plans. They won't rest till we're all on bicycles selling onions....then they'll probably slap parking tickets on the bicycles.

  • when i went through a red light i got a £60 fine 3 points on my clean licence and when i told my insurance company they charged me extra £27 because i had 3 points .
  • To all you perfect drivers out there that stick to the speed limit.

If you hit a child at 30 mph you still have a 40% chance of killing the child.

If however the child is supervised or taught to cross at pedestrian crossings or to look before crossing then that child won't even be hurt!

People should take responsibility for their children. Most accidents occur within the speed limts and are caused by children running into traffic.

The driver is traumatised by the accident. Their insurance goes up. The damage caused to the car by the child running out has to be paid out of the drivers pocket.

Why don't we fine negligent pedestrians?

Stealth taxes on cute children would look bad, thats why. Keep blaming the nasty motorist.
