Is this a 30 day rolling contract? If so I am pretty certain you have to keep the contract sim for at least 30 days and then give 30 days notice so that would be a total of 60 days so I have to agree with 3 in this case.

Who also advised you to cancel your direct debit?? as this is the last thing you should do mate as you now have debt collectors knocking on your door and your credit history is more than likely already black listed.

You are wrong. You can give a notice after, say, 10 days and pay for 40 days.

Ahhh I stand corrected then and also the OP should just pay the final bill before it escalates anymore than it has already.

As the contract was cancelled within 14 days, that bad news is the 30 days does not kick in until the first 30 days has elapsed. So, a contract taken out and with a billing date of 15/11/2011 can be cancelled on 14/01/2012 after giving notice by 15/12/2011. There will be payments taken for the minimum initial service period of 61 days, and then you are clear.

I can only repeat that this is incorrect - unless you prove me wrong.

Thats what I originally thought as they entered into a 30 day rolling contract so surely they are under contract for a minimum term of 30 days as soon as they put the simcard into the phone and use it and with 30 days notice would indeed become 60 days.

Surely it should also be up to you to prove us wrong as well?

Surely? Why? The T&C say 30 days and say nothing about 'first 30 days'.

That said, I am lucky to have canceled '3' 1-month £10 rolling contract recently during the first month. It was one of two contracts I've bought:

Tesco Free 3 SIM, 300 minutes, 1GB internet browsing plus 3 ZTE F930 Phone

    - and I have not cancelled it straight away because I wanted to get £40 TCB cashback (and have got it eventually).

    Started on Nov 22.
    Cancelled on about Dec 10.
    Account closed on Jan 10.
Charged £11.64 (first bill) and £5.58 (the second and the final bill) with £0.98 credit left because of some error.

Either way the OP has cancelled his DD and now has DCA's after him so my ONLY advice would be to pay up and try to minimise the damage which has already being done.
