Vodafone early upgrade??

Hello, could someone shed some light on something please?

Up until recently the date for an early upgrade on my account with Vodafone was 12 Feb 2012 and now its changed to 22 May 2012.

I did some searching on the forum and apparently Vodafone have changed their terms for early upgrades so now I have to wait even longer for an upgrade.

My phone was stolen not so long ago so I've been paying £36 a month for a budget smartphone. This isn't Vodafone's fault of course but I was eagerly waiting for an upgrade so I could finally start paying the right amount of money for a phone.

I'm not happy about this at all, it seems as if this change has happened without a whisper or have I been asleep this whole time? Normally I get texts when Vodafone change their T&Cs but not this time - what on earth has happened and why?

Budget smartphones cost about £100 on PAYG/sim-free.
Buy, say, Acer Liquid Metal for £115, switch to a sim-only contract when your min term expires and stop wasting money on expensive early upgrades.

    PAYG Android phone £100-£150 recommendations?

Yeah I think I paid £150 for my Samsung, but I was on an iPhone contract which unfortunately I couldn't get out of when it got stolen. Vodafone wouldn't reduce the cost either.

Thanks for the advice, will look into that.

There is no right to an early upgrade it's always been and the compnaies discression.

Early upgrades were at the 3 month point looks like they have simply withdrawn the offer. In reality it doesn't make much difference, even if you take an early upgrade it's just added on so you'd have a 21 month or 27 month contract going forward.

Totally agree they just tack the remaining months onto the end so your next contract is even longer so much better off waiting till it ends and then find a better deal.
