Will I ever get a job?
Comments

You wont, as it sounds like you're making excuses. The only person that can get you a job is you
I have worked with people that would be described as having 'learning difficulties' in many roles. My last job i worked with a guy who did an Accounts payable job. Admittedly, i cant see him taking a directors role at any point, but he still has a job, and keeps it. Unless he hid it very well, he was hardly academic either
The point im making is, if someone like that has managed it, then you can, but only if you really want to

Its just that there are less jobs and that means more people looking so standards can be high and you may need to look at novel ways of making yourself more appealing to employers.
The best way to deal with this I think is to try offering a variety of skills.
For example, have you considered doing some voluntary work - it would be good to have that on your cv - sometimes charities look for office workers. Have a look online. Ring a few local ones that would save you travel costs. This would perhaps give you more confidence and also more experience
It also helps you to meet new people and boost your self-esteem.
It shows that you are keen to get work too which is what employers are looking for - that you are a hard worker and can use your initiative. Put that all on your CV and it can be very impressive.
Please also try not to blame yourself and believe that you can and will get a job!!! like someone above mentioned a positive attitude is essential.
You already have attained some good grades so be confident in yourself and your current course and make it happen
very best of luck

I have applied for volunteering and thank you.0 -
I also volunteered in a charity shop which was brilliant too, let me try out something else. Got so many bargains and had a great laugh with all the old dears.0

Yes thats a good idea - even shops have to do administration don't forget!!! stock controls etc....

What about health places/hospitals i reckon theres lots of demand out there.

Museums/Heritage sites also have admin positions. Maybe consider some voluntary reception roles, as a lot of admin jobs are reception/admin jobs and a lot of people get their foot in the door with admin that way.0

National Trust take on admin volunteers.
Just because you don't volunteer in a an admin area doesn't mean you won't get a job in admin. I worked at a local learning place for people with special needs being like a class assistant, and I ended up getting a job in admin a few months after.
Also you really can't be picky in this day and age. When I was told my contract in my admin role wasn't being renewed, I went and applied for school cleaning (and got it).0 -
No, you can't be picky. I'm an experienced administrator and office manager but I just didn't get anywhere applying for the jobs which were a good fit with my experience. It took me nearly a year to get a job which is a mixture of customer service and admin. I said I'd never go back to a customer service based role, after getting out of customer service and going back to admin but decided beggars can't be choosers and as it's turned out I am enjoying it a lot.
Maybe you should consider customer service? My previous experience in it helped me get my current job. You would probably have to work in a call centre to get the experience but that doesn't mean you would be in a call centre forever.
I have to admit I was shocked at how difficult and competitive it is to get an administrator job nowadays! There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0
