Its a really good spec, I will add if you ask about the ultra-sharp 19" screen for an extra £50, this includes a 4 usb hub , vga and dvi. I have this screen and it is really really good. Also if you can max out the spec as must as you can with the budget you have this means that it is better then the standard and you will have a extra "x" amount of time. And with the operating system for the extra £100 for Vista Ultimate go for it now rather then later because you will be paying more with the Windows Anytime Upgrade. Other go for Ultimate if you want or need too. Home Premium is suitable for a general user.0

wolfman wrote:What bugs? Again people seem to assume there are bugs. It's an easy bandwagon to jump on, but there's often no evidence (or at least not yet). Vista is no different from when XP first came out. People were fine then. They released SP1, everyone upgraded, they released SP2, everyone upgraded again. The same will happen with Vista.
Typically businesses will wait a year, but that's about more than just initial bugs. The typical home user will be fine with Vista.
On software (especially of this size) there are always bugs. But as you say, most home users will be fine. Keep yourself protected with Anti Virus and Hardware and Software firewalls, keep the system up to date with patches and you're unlikely to have any problems.
If you're not buying a new PC with Vista, I don't see much point in upgrading at present, unless there's a feature you must have. You pays your money and takes your choice though.0 -

True, regarding the bugs. But it's been, and still is that way with XP and people have been fine. I've used Vista at work quite a bit and not had a single problem. As long as you have a pc that can handle it and a decent setup (firewalls, av etc...) they you'll be fine.
I agree in that sense of not upgrading (unless you got it free). It's difficult to just yet justify the £100 to buy an OEM version unless you're a techie, or enjoy tinkering around with computers. XP works just fine. But if it comes included I'd see it as more hassle to switch to XP than to stick with Vista."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Stay well away from Toshiba. Their customer services are useless. I will NEVER buy an other Toshiba computer (desktop/laptop/tablet pc) in my life again.0

As suggested, looks quite good as far as I can see - I wouldn't take Vista though until the next service pack is out at least.0
