:rotfl: It just seemed like a very unMSE/OS-like thread not to have an immediate mention of SD as the solution to any and all problems :rotfl:
Good luck with your oven anyway, what exactly did you do to it to get it in this critical condition if you don't mind me asking?0 -
Hello
Not my favourite job either, this may sound daft but I had a similar problem last week with my oven and I ended up using my wallpaper stripper as a steam cleaner and it worked a treat!!
Good Luck

can I hijack this thread (sorry) to ask how to clean the glass doors of my oven ? There seems to be 2 panels of glass and a gap at the top so loads of dust has fallen in between over theyears and it looks really grubby. How do I take it apart ? There are no oobvious screws, the places where I would expect screws seem to have rivety type thingsJan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

Tried the steam cleaner, no good. Yes shelves come up a treat in the dishwasher.
I didn't do anything...that's the problem.
Used to have one of those oven liners that you could just wash. Can't seem to find them in the shops now.
Making me feel guilty now. Does anyone clean their oven after every use???0 -
Nope mine is hackie black, looking for a miracle cure here.Who would like my last penny?0

Try a diff company I only got charged £35 and it was so worth it. Now trying to keep on top of it by wiping out after each use
tried it when I moved house and thought I was going to have to ditch the oven when I looked inside- a MUCH cheaper option. Guy took AGES...unassembled everything...
really really good job....

I know you will probably laugh at such a simple suggestion, but have you used bicarb?
I swear that stuff is a miracle in a jar.
I won't tell you how long my oven was left uncleaned, but I sprinkled over a thick layer of bicarb, misted it with water. Repeated the process and left it and then came back with a scraper and loads of kitchen towel and all that burnt-on disgusting gunk came off.
it was so easy, no horrible chemicals and free............
the inside of my oven is a grey marble and I never knew - I thought it was black <hangs head in shame>

Anyone got any ideas how to do the sides and the top with bicarb?0 -

Lakeland sell an oven liner http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!3318 - quite pricy (in my view) at £9.99, but then if it means you don't have to clean the oven then it's a bonus!Making me feel guilty now. Does anyone clean their oven after every use???
You're not the only one....I don't get around to cleaning it out every time...I try to do it once a month if it's lucky, but I don't think it's enough0 -
I used that mr muscle foam oven cleaner that you spray on, leave and wipe off, I seem to remember that all the carbon and everything lifted off - probably not necessary for everyday cleaning but pretty good for an occasional 'proper' clean!0

Oh I've used that Mr Muscle stuff- once. Pretty caustic stuff so good ventilation needed. I was never really brave enough again. I am feeling very guilty as I rarely clean my oven. I just bung an old baking tin on the bottom covered in foil to catch drips and clean that occasionally, the oven itself I really don't clean
but then again I don't find it gets dirty. And yes it does get used! Maybe I am just not looking hard enough, I am off to stick my head in the oven
