Thanks LJM. Will give it a go over the next few days. Presume same formula will work with grill pan although we never let it get too bad. Not that we grill very much.

Anyone have a smokey oven? It seems to come from the internal grill which i dont use much, but the instructions say not to clean the elements which are what seems to be smoking. I was thinking of steam cleaning them?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My friend tried to steam clean her oven and to be honest I could of done it better with a bit of Bicarb and elbow grease.I usually use Bicarb but next time I`m gunna give the Stardrops a bash.
I love it when it`s really mucky and greasey and after a good scrub it sparkles like brand new, free satisfaction!Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -
Thanks for all your replies! I think I'll try soda crystals next as I already have some. Stardrops sounds good but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who leaves cleaning the oven til it's really bad!0

You can but Stardrops in ASDA for about 58p0

Hi
Just wondered whether placing a pan of water (and vinegar!!) in a hot oven would work, perhaps leaving it for an hour or so, in that it might lift some of the grease?
What are your thoughts??
TIA!!0 -
Well it works in microwaves, or with lemon so I don't see why it shouldn't work in ovens. I resorted to Oven pride on my oven and shelves and was amazed at the results. I have now bought a liner from Lakeland to protect it so hopefully it shouldn't get too bad in the future.0

Have been naughty and its a bit of a mess. Fortunatley split level type. I can get the grease off but fed up it all being brown and dark (carbon). Normally I use the steam method to clean oven (and microwave), bowl of boiling water in for 10 mins and just wipe off, no scrubbing needed.
Oven has gone beyond that now! Saw a company who come out to the house and do it but the quote was about £65....a bit too steep. Have also tried all the harsh chemicals but will not shift the carbon stuff. Any other suggestions to get the sides of the oven clean again0
