18866 still the cheapest?

At 2p, the connection charge for 18866 is still cheaper than 1899, which is 3p.
As 1899 is 18866's sister company, I wonder if 1899 will increase their connection fee soon too?0 -
Absolutely disgusting the way their email is written. Do they think we are idiots or something to tell us about their bloody SPRING SALE when they are actually doubling their tariff. It looks like this is the beginning of the end as was expected by many MSEs.0

It does mean that anyone who averages more than 16 calls a day to geographic numbers is better off using one of the £10/month "all geographic calls included" plans from other providers.
This won't be many people but some will fit into this category.0 -
I'm not quite sure where you got the information that many MSE users have predicted the end for 18866? This is a connection fee of 2p meaning 2p per call no matter how long you are on the phone for!
It has also been suggested on MSE that you combine 18866 or 1899 for that matter with a free package of evening and w/end calls which means that you are only paying for actual calls you make and not paying £10 a month for 16 plus calls a day that you may not make?
Still a bargain as far as I am concerned0 -
Totally agree - 2p to connect and talk for ages at 0p still seems a good deal to me??Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. :beer:0

I fail to understand why people are complaining about this increase
Are people really getting so damned greedy that they're grumbling over having to pay 2p to make a call regardless of how long that call is"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

It is that what you do, good or bad,
will come back to you three times as strong!

Yes it's still a good deal.
Nevertheless it's a 100% increase, and as such is worthy of some comment!0 -
Just switched to using the Internet to make calls to UK landlines - totally free using 1899. It seems ok during the day when you are not contending with others for bandwith, but a bit dodgy evening and weekends. Still, I can use OneTel free on evenings and weekends (with no rental fee).
Am now struggling to use the free 200 cross-network minutes on my 'cashback' Vodafone SIM card. They were due to charge £5/month for last six months of contract for unlimited free weekend calls, but just received SMS saying that charge is now dropped.
But stuck with Kingston for both line rental and broadband. The line rental is cheaper than BT plus it includes all the extras like call waiting, CLI, call diversion, three-way calling etc at no extra charge. But the broadband is a tad expensive at £18.99/month plus £30 connection for unlimited 256k service.0 -
I have been using 18866 for a year or so now, my BT bills were always ITRO £300.00, bill rec'd y/day was £66.00 (i've got a hubby that forgets 18866/1899!!), I use 18866 for landline, and 1899 for mobile calls - 2p for as long as you want? I can't complain (and won't) at that.0
