I would personally choose the VW Eos. But I read a review the other day saying the new 207cc was very very good.
Have you thought about waiting for the similar Ford Focus CC ?
Finally got to look in the boot of an Eos - the space is pathetic, and VW dealers have messed us about twice over a test drive, so not interested:(

Had a look at the Astra twintop and Peugeots again - all very nice but yet to look at the Ford Focus CC - it looks good on the website.

Apparently the double folding roof of the Eos is giving problems.

Personally, given that there are better discounts on the Astra and it's cheaper to start with, I think my money would be on the Vauxhall. And that's not something I say a lot... :)
We were offered a very good deal on a new vauxhall.

Focus would be a good second choice to the EOS in my book, just make sure you get a decent discount.

The boot is small, but no CC's boot could ever be described as large. They're all about the same size as my boot, and I don't have a convertible ;-)

Defending the dealer slightly, there's not many Eos's about to test drive, so they're probably having as much difficulty as you. Now not defending the dealer, don't let one bad dealer lead you to possibly driving a car you don't really want for the next three years or so. Find another dealer that will help you out, and then make your choice after you've driven your options.

If you've got the possibility, arrange a test drive of all your options for the same day. It might be a bit of a pain, but an afternoon listening to sales staff droning on will at least help you get a better idea of the various cars.

1.) Don't even consider for one second the thought of buying any car without a thorough test drive. I cannot believe any company is reluctant to let you drive a car to try it out.

2.) Does it have to be a metal roofed convertible? You'll find soft tops these days are extremely well made, insulated and secure. Plus you've saved weight and more importantly saved boot space. Possibly you could look into buying a hard top for the winter.

I'm making assumptions here, but I'd guess the dealer ins't being reluctant, but rather just struggling to source an Eos for a drive - they're currently in high demand and low supply, so there's not many kicking about.

Incidentally, you wouldn't believe how many BMW's are sold without even a short test drive, especially so with the 6 and 7...
