  • i will try this one day, as i bung ours in the microwave for 10 mins for 3 spuds and then bung in a roasting pan and roll it around in hot oil so its all covered to crisp up for 30 mins but i turn half way through, and then turn oven off but leave them into finish it off.

    I've heard about this one too, and it's good to see that it works, but ... have you tried finding an old-fashioned metal meat skewer these day?
    The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

    I use kebab skewers that we bought to use on the barbecue. Can't remember where we bought ours but eBay has lots listed for a few quid
    weaving through the chaos...
  • going to try this tip next time i do jacket potato :)
    i love jacket potato but never cook it often cos i hate putting the oven on just for 2 potatos lol :D

    My Waitrose has them and there's loads online. More places might start carrying them in the lead up to summer as well.

    I saw this tip as well. I rarely cook jacket potatoes, and always put them in when I'm cooking something else for a long time (e.g. roast) but I will keep this in mind for next time.

    I just microwave it for five minutes and finish in hot oven - as I love that oven baked taste and the skin goes nice and crisp!

    Bought some just a few months ago as my dad wanted the ones i had borrowed from them back. :). I think i got mine at the supermarket in a pack of four.

    i used to have a teracotta pot you put on the stove top that cooked lovely jacket spuds - i got it as a gift- but i dropped it:( and never found another
    I've been eyeing these up link has anybody tried them - the review seems a little..odd

    well... either someone very keen, or the merchant selling them...

    Did you notice this? Sounds similar to the terracotta thingy you describe
