So Greece could save 3/4ers of the money that the Troika is expecting them to save on pensions by reducing defence spending to the NATO average. Of course they spend that money to defend themselves against another NATO member!!!

I've pointed to the Philip Ammerman blog before, he's moved it to a corporate website now, but the latest instalment can be found below. Interesting as its his viewpoint on miscalculations by the Troika and mistakes by Syriza:

It's also not long ago been reported as breaking news that the IMF is not accepting the latest proposals.

I thought that was exactly what he meant, and that he was joking that he dresses smart because he isn't good at his job.

Of course the IMF are at the top of the pile of creditors - perhaps they want Greece to go bust to prove a point (to the Europeans)?
    I think....

It would appear that the Germans aren't that fussed about Greece going bust too, despite soundbites from Merkel. Perhaps the tide is turning?

All eyes on Greece...again. But does anybody even care anymore? We have been down this Road for years and yet the Greek can just keeps being kicked! I think the world is totally and completely ignorant of the ramifications of what would happen if, or should I say when, Greece finally defaults.

Sure there are going to be losses at the IMF and EU and some of the big banks that bought Greek debt but what about all the other stuff? What about the TRILLIONS in derivative hedges and derivative speculation on a Greek default? Who will pay out and who will just implode and not pay out? Nobody knows.

And what happens to the average Greek citizen? Well, one thing is for sure -

NO MORE MORTGAGE PAYMENTS or CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS or CAR LOAN PAYMENTS...NO MORE DEBT!!!

Nothing. There will be no money in their bank account even if they wanted to pay!

Saying that the Greek situation is a very BiG Deal is a very large UNDERSTATEMENT.

And those who stopped caring about the Greek Story will come to understand that they should have been paying closer attention because it will be at your doorstep soon.

Think were back to squeeky bum time to be honest.

Greece has, this afternoon rejected further proposals from it's creditors. Not sure I blame them to be honest as some of the proposals hurt the very industries Greece has a chance of turning things around on. The proposals also hit the poorest the hardest.

Greece has proposed taxing the rich more, but Germany has refused that concession, instead wanting to tax everyone and somewhat punish the poor by adding 23% VAT to food.

Even Euro supporters are coming around to the idea that you can't simply keep punishing the Greek people to save German face.

EU officials are even threatening removing Humanitarian aid from Greece shoudl Greece not accept their proposals. Personally, I find that truly appauling.

On another note, the EU does appear to be blinking first.

2 days ago, there would be no extensions under any circumstances.

Today, Greece are offered an extension (which they have refused - thankfuly, as theres really no point doing more of the same).

And even David Cameron has now stated (via a leaked memo) that a Grexit would possibly be the best bet for Greece now. Not sure out reforms will go too well now!!
