I took Lmy disabled over to her mother's and we were there about 2 hours and then called and did shopping at Morries on way back. It hasn't got above -8 or 9 all day and driving along the riverside A47 was spooky - with the river on one side and 'nothing' on the other side, just 'cloud' which was actually freezing fog which came across the road in places. Very spooky

When I was out, I got text from my sister asking when she could phone me, so I told her what I was doing and then texted her when I got home. Mam is not good :( The home had been trying to contact my sister and brother very early this morning and eventually got them about 8 am and they both had been down with mam since 9 am. When the carers checked Mam early this morning, on pulling back the sheets and removing her pad, she had lost loads of blood, through her bowels. They said it was enough to warrant a blood transfusion, if Mam hadn't been in end-of-life unit. Her blood pressure was understandably very low. They checked her later when my sis & bro were there and it was ok, so hoped it was a one off, but when they checked this afternoon, there were heavy blood clots of old and new blood. Mam has been talking and shouting, in fact it was very distressing to hear her yelling when I was talking to my sis on the phone. Sis texted about 10.40 pm to say they had both come home as mam was sleeping after nurse gave her an injection in her tummy to settle her, which only took about 15 minutes to work. They will ring her if any change through the night, and sis will let me know :(

Anyway, after much discussion, and only after Mr 3Dogs insisted he would be ok, I have booked train ticket for tomorrow as I feel I must be up there with them and Mam. I checked with my friend for a lift to the station, but she could only take me after 2 pm so ended up with a first class ticket for £75+ just after 7 pm, as the only standard tickets available were for before 2 pm. It will be late when I get up there, almost 10 pm, but I will get something to eat on the way up and I will be there if anything happens

The cupboards, fridges and freezers are very well stocked with food ;);) and the dogs are still in the kennels, so Mr 3Dogs can just take it easy and slob about for a few days. He does have his nurse's appointment for Monday morning to get his wound checked but he says he will get the bus in if necessary - the bus stop is at the end of our street and he has his bus pass, plus the bus stops very close to the docs in town. If he is not up to it, or weather is bad, he will just have to ring them and ask them to visit him

So, I am up North again tomorrow to see how Mam is :(:(

I've been doing my washing ready to pack yet again and on my 3rd large whisky & water, but will be off to bed very soon

Just been invited to a fancy dress party in April suggestions needs please :)

Do you have a very plain 'little black dress' in your wardrobe?

I once went to a fancy dress party as a domino. I didn't have a suitable dress at the time and if it was now I would head for a charity shop but at the time I just made a simple rectangular dress - slash neck, sleeveless, very short.

Just cut some circles out of some old white fabric and sew, wundaweb or glue on in the appropriate places.

I was a double 3 and added a thin belt of white ribbon for the dividing line around the middle.

It was a long time ago and I don't mind telling you I looked hot. Especially next to all my friends who just looked plain silly :rotfl:

I don't think I'd ever visit America, if I did I'd want to visit the Amish places and Redneck country.:rotfl::rotfl:

My ex came from Tennessee. We went to visit his family and I was amazed to find that they lived way out in the middle of nowhere. It was true Hicksville. They had one bar at the end of their long road and all the alcohol was hidden under the bar. Not sure why though cos all the local law enforcement officers would stop by for an alcoholic drink while on duty. :rotfl:

Ex's family grew tobacco and even had their own family cemetary.

hi fudge really do not be afraid of driving over there i have driven twice over there now and belive me it is better driving over there than here. The roads are much wider the traffic flows better, i was really afraid of driving the first time i had never drove an automatic or driven in the states before drove the car around the carpark a bit first to get used to it before we set off for the villa. Also got a sat nav and had never used one of those before, it was brill but the roads are really well signed anyway i would say go for it i loved driving over there and i dont really like driving over here.

I used to have an American automatic convertible (before children!). It was the easiest thing ever to drive. Would love to go back to Florida and take the children, but just can't afford it. :(

You have just reminded me, I once went to a fancy dress as a domino - I had a plain black old dress and stuck on white plastic polystyrene circles on it - made a 6 and 3 on the front. I drilled 2 holes through 2 dominoes and attached them to some old earings, and got my nails painted black with white tippexed dominoes on them. Plain black old shoes with tippexed dominios on them.
