my flat isnt even double glazed and my bay windows are 108 inch drop (hugeeeeeee) so that big with such rubbish thin glass, and a draft that comes through them
not to mention all the damp that the environmental health man decided didnt exist (i watched him using his machine) why are estate agents such scum? i enquired about a flat 4 months ago, was waiting for the bloke to be evicted.... today i get told the flat got let out in the week (i was promised first refusal on it) luckily they had a ground floor flat (going to be smaller though) im so angry with the council, estate agents etc etc!!! and the council waiting list is a joke im coming 28th on properties and they tell me if i cant find somewhere myself my son will be sharing a room with me until he is 4 or 5 before they bother helping. grrrr. sorry to come here and moan just fed up of a day of bad phone calls!!!!!!!!!
There's a thread somewhere on the forum called "Preparing for winter" with loads of tips for keeping warm, including lining curtains with fleeces which they reckon is very effective. Back end of winter is a good time to pick up some bargains for things like that.Hope is not a strategy.0 -
A question for all the cooks out there please.
I just bought a 6 pack of tomatoes reduced down to 10p. I don't eat fresh tomato but I use them in stews and bolognese etc (usually tinned ones)
Can I cook these down into a passata/tinned tomato type mixture, then freeze it to use next time I make a bolognese? Would you skin them before cooking?
Thanks
BTW I stopped off at my local express of the way back from the parents, and I got 4 fruit & veg things for a total of 46p... very impressed!
I skin them before freezing them. I then freeze them whole and use them with a big boy's breakfast instead of tinned tomatoes.0 -

Another DIY cook/bake recipe to add to my collection! That's homemade butter, buttermilk, hobnobs and now passata!
Thanks very, you lovely lot know everythingA bit warmer than here, but by no means truly warm in February I'm afraid. It's one of the coldest months even in Portugal. Usually the weather starts turning in April and in May you can get some really warm (beach-going) days as well. But February is real winter... Or as "real winter" as the Portuguese get. Afterall, temps bellow 10C are considered freezing cold over there.Have fun!
I love the Algarve, absolutely beautiful beaches. We got a bargain appartment in Alvor last March, and were lucky with the weather. I've never been in February though.0 -
Whoever manages Jedward should get the England job. If they can get a performance out of them two imagine what they could do with a team!0

Mr T's in "The town with a castle with a leaning tower" has LOADS of reduced jars and tins of baby food, Cow and Gate, Organix. Prices are 11p, 15p, Check the dates though. Some are dated later this year but loads are dated 2013. They are in the RTC section.
I like a jar of baby food when I'm feeling ill, I should have got some when i crawled out for milk. I warm it in a saucepan with a pinch of salt0 -

A message from Tinyshoes, her internet is down at the mo. But she found a few RTC bits on tea, coffee, hot chocolate, ovalitine & horlicks. One was a 70g sachet of Maxwell House down to 50p, in an Extra.0
