I seem to remember in the small print it says that if the barcode can't be read then they just input the numbers underneath, I know that wasn't the question lol but I'm sure they could still do that if they had any issues?

I would point them to that anyway. And I'm sure coupons that were originally in colour are still OK when printed black and white, I think it's all down to the barcode and the barcode numbers. My printer's rubbish so my safecoupons never scan but they do them manually.

    My stores just LOVE me....:rotfl:

    the barcode is readable

Will keep it in my purse and try my luck one day soon. Need to find my clubcard though

I know there are a lot of animal lovers who post on this thread....just read this article and not ashamed to say tears came to my eyes ....how can people be so cruel?...

    http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/02/03/david-and-marjorie-massey-face-jail-over-neglect-of-sheepdog-floyd_n_1252416.html#s660823

    The pictures are so upsetting.

They want locking up for that. How could they be so cruel if they couldn't have afforded to get the dog groomed they should have tried to do it themselves.

I am so rubbish at explaining myself lol! What I meant to say was that if you have any worries about using the coupon the barcode number should be enough for them to input it, whether it's pink green or blue!

Having said that, there will always be that special trout just waiting for you...:D

Spicy ginger and sweetcorn soup an unusual combination but it honestly is worth giving it a go as its so quick and simple to make.
    Ingrediants
    50g or 2oz Butter
1 tsp ground ginger - I use more but I love ginger
1 Red pepper - finely chopped
1 Medium Onion - again finely chopped
1 Can of sweetcorn - usually around the 340g size
560ml or 1 pint of chicken stock - fresh is better but you can use stock cubes.
    50ml or 2fl oz Milk
50ml or 2fl oz Single cream
    And now the how 2.........
This recipe should serve 4 but thats only if you dont aquire a taste for it from testing the recipe !!!
In a large saucepan melt the butter.
Add the ginger, red pepper, onion and cook over a steady heat till the onion has softened and is now translucent - usually around 3 minutes.
Add the sweetcorn and cook for a further minute.
Pour in your stock and bring to the boil - cover and simmer for 5 more minutes.
Add the milk and the cream - please make sure the stock isnt boiling as it can curdle !!!!
Now at this point you should decide how you like your soup - I like bits so I only liquidise the soup for the shortest of times but if you like creamy with not bits whizz that liquidiser to your hearts content !!!
Then its down to personal taste of seasoning - the usual salt and pepper or more ginger if it hasnt got that kick !!!
    Reheat and EAT !!!
Best served with crusty bread and real butter!
Gone on you know you want to get in that kitchen and go for it ! Even with chopping the veggies it should only take around 10 minutes start to finish!
    Hope you enjoy it !!

missed your post before, tinyshoes is 100% correct, if he is terminally ill you can claim a speical allowance, the form is called a DS1500 I often fill them in, usually they are suggested by the district nurses or macmillan team (have you been referred to eother of these for support??) it is a difficult call as usually only applicable to terminal patients who have a life expectancy of less than 6 months-sorry if that sounds awful and this is so difficult to judge but your hospital consultant or Gp should be able to advise.

There are other agencies that could call in on him, have you tried Age Concern as well??

This allownace IS NOT means tested so even the queen could claim it ( I hope she never needs to but you know what i mean)!
HTH and good luck with it

Thanks celebrate could not remember the number for the form off the top of my head.

There are 2 routes to claim Attendance Allowance, one under the special rules which as you say and usually Consultant or GP will decide if this is applicable and agree to signing the DS1500 and enclosing with an Application for Attendance Allowance. There will be a box to tick on the form to say you are applying under the special rules, ie no delay and you don't need to fill in a lot of the questions in the form either. And it will be paid at the higher rate.

The other route is by filling in the Attendance Allowance form in full if it is not agreed by Consultant/GP that special rules apply. It is then assessed and think there may be a waiting period from memory ie disability has to be present for certain amount of time. There is either a lower or higher rate paid depending on disability.

In both cases it is reviewed after 3 years. My mum applied under the special rules first as no one expected her to live more than 6 months to a year. But she is such a fighter and it has made her life so much more comfortable with the money available. She was still entitled to it 3 years after as her disabilty was the same if not worse. But you must inform them if things get better.

My neighbour applied and was turned down at first because she was not totally honest at what she was unable to do for herself. My OH works in this area and told her to appeal as he knew from experience and seeing her that she should have been entitled to at least the lower rate. He helped her and her OH to fill the appeal form in and she was eventually awarded it. :)

Thanks for all the help that has been suggested to me, we are a bit blind at the moment as hospital that FIL is in has norovirus so has stopped all visiting apart from very special cases. So any info OH has received has been given over the phone, and also what i have managed to get also over the phone. I have managed to arrange this morning that he has a piper alarm fitted for when he comes home he can have this free for 6 weeks then after this he has to pay for it - but think it will be well worth it for peace of mind, and will also get in touch with district nurses on monday morning and see if they can help or suggest others that can help in some way. Will also ask them about the form for attendance allowance, feeling a little bit chirpier (sp?) now as think someone somewhere may be able to help.
    Thank you :T:T:T:T:T
