The low temperature of slow-cooking makes it impossible to burn food even if cooked too long; however, meat and vegetables will become nearly tasteless or "raggy" if overcooked.

Slow cookers do not provide sufficient heat to compensate for loss of moisture and heat due to frequent removal:eek:

Just had my first SW weigh in, and I am totally shocked - I lost 7.5 pounds

I have excercised almost every day, but still I can't believe it.

Only thing I find if friends say their slow cooker has "burnt" things, its usually because they have used jar's of "cooking sauces" the high sugar content are not really great for slow cookers, I have a big one for main meals and a smaller (£5 argos value) for sweet stuff rice puds/choc fudge puds etc :)

  • Hello fellow bargain hunters :)

Rowntrees Jelly Aliens 185g RTC 12p BB end Jan 2012 There was a crate full of them! Still taste fine to me tummy not talking back to me :rotfl:

Earlier than usual Whoopsie rounds tonight between 4 and 5pm Tesco Extra C0rst0rph1n3 3d1nburgh.

At the tins and packets clearance shelf, (end of an aisle at back right of store by crisps) I was having a peak for Xmas stuff left over.

There are still loads and loads of the Dorman Salted Peanuts 100g 25p left beside the Rowntrees Aliens ;)

I picked up a 1kg Tesco Value Xmas bag of mixed nuts and raisins dated until May 2012, no price tags so took a chance. Scanned at 74p. Not bad for 1kg. They have Brasils, almonds, hazel nuts, peanuts, raisins and taste fresh. One bag left but the packaging was burst :(

    HTH someone :)
