For what it's worth, Nikki, I was prescribed Amitriptyline about 2 years ago for a chronic facial pain I was getting (like Sinus pain combined with toothache sort of thing), which the Docs couldn't attribute to anything specific (in fact they described it as "atypical facial pain" in the end).
I don't like taking tablets unnecessarily either (especially after having chemo 11 years for breast cancer).
Like you, I was very dubious, considering this is an anti depressant, and I didn't consider myself depressed, just in pain.
I can honestly say that I find it helps to suppress the pain, as long as I take it regularly (I certainly notice the return of the pain if I forget to take it for more than a couple of days).
I'm on 10mg per day, or 20mg if it's bad.
HTH
By the way, brilliant job in getting HC back.

Totally O/T now, but just back from the doctors, booked in for steroid next week for my elbow but it's been getting me down and I can't sleep with the pain so the doctor has prescribed one 25mg amitriptyline tablet everynight to see if it will get me through the night. We had a bit of a "discussion" about them because I always thought they were anti depressants and I'm not depressed, but he said no in low doses they are good as a muscle relaxant and should help me sleep.Has anyone else ever used then for this, I hate taking tablets:(
I was put on amitriptyline for fibromyalgia went up to 50mg a night and had no affect on me whatsoever so gp changed me to fluoxetine instead. However my DH is also on amitriptyline for the same condition and it knocks him out every night, to the point where if he doesn't take it he cannot get to sleep.
I can't wait to try this and go to bed;)
Hi All! :j

Have completely not caught up- only began to read about all the challenges in everyone's day. Such sad news about the youth and the train tragedy. I do not know how you would begin to cope.

Snap-ant, I hope your dad is holding up- that is not easy on anyone! -but at least they had a look at those x-rays!

Those with ill health- I hope you are keeping warm amidst the snow! ...and if you're young (or young at heart! :p) I hope you got to play in it!

I went into Mr. T's this morning and no luck with the Christmas stuff- found a lonely candy cane pack... but this evening I have had most fantastic experience!

At my local co-op they had Whoopsie heaven! All of this was 10p each!!! (even the things without yellow stickers were 10p - as they were today's date, they did them at the till for me!!) The best thing was that I went several times- first went in for flour to make pizza, got a few things, left some for others... Went back and got the rest! - a dozen chicken breast packs, raspberries, spuds, purple sprouting, peppers, fruit galore, lasagna...and there was a lovely lady there shocked at the whoopsies, so I offered here some of the great fruit and she said - no she couldn't carry them as she was on crutches and had a leg cast... I offered to help her to her car, and she said she was on foot!

...So I drove her home and we both had bags full of great food!
Felt soooo good to do a genuine good deed. :)

Hope you are having a snuggly warm evening. I shall now open a bottle of our 1€ chateau bottled wine whoopsied from the French grocery store on our holiday a few weeks ago!! :D

Mr Lala is cooking his steak on the barbie, yes he's a bit strange and he's just come in to tell me it's snowing, only lightly but it's definately snow:eek::eek::eek:
Right early night for me, going to have a nice bath, read my book, tablet and bed,
Night night everyone
Night night Happy my little:A make sure you behave, my tablet might not work and I might be lurking;):rotfl:

I feel very lazy tonight. Does anyone else use frozen meat in their slow cooker on occasion or is it just me?

As it cooks overnight, we have never noticed any difference. I even fling frozen veggies in if we ain't got fresh!!

Does anyone else have a slow cooker confession or two.

;)

Good evening one and all :D

Wombled my first worthwhile receipt of the year at the weekend 64 points and £1.39 via TPC :T

Quick question if I may, has anyone combined the £5 off £40 and the £5 off £25 clothes and got away with it.. Id never spend £40 in one hit so was thinking of spending £40 on clothes then taking something back...:o essentially getting something for £10 for free..

.

just been to mr t's and they took both coupons. nice lady at c.newham. Now have to take the dress back to the other mr. t's tomorrow as I'm slightly too large for it. (baby bump!)

Laura Cello - what an amazing haul, I wonder why they had so much so cheap. Good on you for sharing it, and helping out the other customer.
