I haven't read back properly since this afternoon but I have gathered that HAPPY IS BACK ....yeah!!! :jGreat news :j:j:j

Well ... what a day ... if only I could get my act together I'd be dangerous :)

This afternoon went to 1st Mr T ... ready to spend one of my £5 of £40 coupons and use as many other MOCs at the same time as I could ... only to find I'd left them all at home.

Anyway I decided I'd have to try for penny items since I wasn't going to buy anything that could have gone on a proper shop and so this is how it went:

    • Choco Waffles - scanned at £2.19 :( (cancelled at SS)
    • Little box of Thorntons - £3 :( (refund at CS)
    • 2 x Temptations - 10p :T
    • 6 x Posh Cream and Gold Christmas Bottle Bags with ribbons - 25p :T
    • 1 box of 10 Christmas cards - 68p :T
    • 1 box of 30 Christmas cards - 88p :T
    • Tony Bennet CD - 1p :T
    • 1 x Tesco Finest Fitted Sheet 100% Egyptian Cotton (KS Black b/c 8383) - RTC from £17 to £8.50 - scanned £20.63 :j
Total shop £23.85 ... DTD £24.26 ... was paid 41p to take all of the above home. (I went back and got 3 more packs of Temptations)

Then I went to 2nd Mr T armed with vouchers wanting to get 4 x Meal Deals that give £3.29 per meal back in a Price Checker coupon (works out at £5.46 per meal) ... but 1) the wine wasn't in stock and 2) all the Meal Deal signs were turned over (???).

Anyway, not all was lost came across 2 Ben 10 Ultimate Alien thingies (b/c 1600) with a SEL 21p.

I also bought a pack of 3 lip balms for £1.12 ... but I'm sure it should have been £1. Might have to check tomorrow ... another DTD could fund another 2 packs of Temptations :rotfl:
  • had a bad experience with trout of a compliance manager today. Have 4 cousins Birthdays in the next 2 weeks so thought while I had extra money I'd buy them all together. DS chose stunt chaser cars as they're all about the same age and spend hours with their rc cars and trucks racing about the garden so though seeing as they're half price it was even better.

SEL stated £19.50 but they scanned at £39.97, didn't know this before buying. Went to CS to get DTD, they took forever to get the SEL, I'd told DS to go and make sure they didn't destroy it as they tend to do. CS SA was about to but DS asked her was she looking for the price for the cars so she couldn't deny it was there.
She went to speak to someone out the back, took forever, took SEL and car to show whoever she'd to speak to. She came back to check all of them then stated that there were two different B/Cs and had to go speak to someone again.
Compliance manager came out and stated that I'd only get DTD on the two whose b/c matched the SEL even though appart from this the boxes were identical.
CS SA wanted to know if she could just refund the 2 and sell at SEL price but compliance manager said that it would have to be through DTD but the other 2 would still be full price

Not in good form, having a bad time at the moment, AND got crashed into in the car park while I was in T's (late DH's car) bumper damage but idiot didn't wait and cctv didn't catch it either  and this has just pushed me a bit further and for some stupid reason have spent all evening in tears.
She really made me feel worse than I had felt going in, made me feel embarrassed infront of other customers.

Will be sending them an e-mail in the morning because just too tired to do it not and feel I'll write something stupid.

Can someone clarify should I have got DTD on all of them like I thought I should have?
    TIA

  • Morning guys

    H C welcome back :T
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

  • hmmm, might have to post random things - if you want to peel a tomato easily to use in cooking, place in a bowl of hot water for a few mins. The skin then peels off :)

........And you know what i save i've saved a fortune each week not going to mr t, for his bargins, because i always ended up spending more on daft bargains i never wanted or needed.

thank your for all the bargains i did get, but sit back and think........before you buy......i now have and my new york trip is nearly there.

thanks for the past hints and tips.xxx

I know this feeling:rotfl: Since joining in with this thread I've started buying things I have no need of but know that others will be glad of them. Trouble is that I've always had a reputation for hunting down bargains and it's now expected of me that I'll turn up something when people need it. Too much pressure:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi FugeCake, not a nice decision to have to make but it sounds as if your family has a huge amount to cope with at the moment. I hope they are all ok. I am sure that whatever you decide it will be the best for your grandparents and all the family who are helping your grandma. Big hugs to you all x

Thank you, that's such a lovely message. I wish it was just the Alzheimers and my mother's illness we had to deal with. Sorry I don't want to go on but sometimes, given the anonimity of posting on a thread like this it's quite nice to vent :o:o:o

My Grandparents were absolutely awful raising my Mum and Aunty. There was no love, no praise, no listening. They didn't care about emotions, if one of them cried, they'd be told to shut up. I realise that's how it was for a lot of families 'back in the day' and I guess if that works for you then I can see why you'd stick by it but it didn't work at all for my Mum and she had no one to talk to so she just thought it was her being silly. She went on to marry a man (my Father) exactly like her Father who isn't happy unless he's putting her down. He hasn't the capacity or inclination to love, he's hollow and cruel and bitter and thinks in exactly the same way as my Grandparents, that having any emotion is wrong.

Now my Mum has been ill since she was about 11 and wasn't allowed to cry or be sad which has deeply affected her self esteem. I've been ill since 5 and growing up my Father had the exact same expectations of me and my Mum was too self doubtful to intervene. Although my Mum scraped through most of her life without these feelings coming out, everything began to unravel when I became Anorexic. My Mum stood by me, she was the only one who cared to understand, the attitude of the rest of my family remained unwavered and still does 9 years later. They all believed I should just pretend I was fine, smile and not let the 'family' down. Well that rubbish wasn't gonna wash with me so now it's me and my Mum vs the rest of my family! So you see my Grandfather's Alzheimers is sadly the least of the problems :( My poor Mum is very ill herself and is having to once again, put all her feelings and self preservation on the back burner and look after the parents who never even ask if she's ok  And now it's too late with her Dad, he's lost the capacity to understand and her Mum, she just doesn't care :(:mad: Why is life so blooming difficult?!

    Sorry venting over! :o

If boxes were the same and descriptions matched then yes. Not up to the customer to scrutinise bar codes........it is however the job of price integrity to! Their cockup not yours. DTD due IMO.

:eek::(:( What an AWFUL day :( You poor thing! I'm sorry I'm not experienced enough to give advice regarding the policy for DTD but I really hope you have much better success and treatment from CS at head office than instore. What terrible treatment.

    Sending plenty of cuddles :Axxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
