  • Em I've just found this on the IS website:

    http://www.bis.gov.uk/assets/bispartners/insolvency/docs/publication-pdfs/bro.pdf

This should answer all of your questions.
I know it's no good just telling someone not to stress, sometimes if you know as much as poss then you are prepared.

Having said that it really would have to be serious for you to get a BRO, and you would have to be fairly uncooperative with the OR I would think.

    Hope it helps xx

Hi Emma, no need to be scared of a BRO/BRU. Your discharge is still 12 months and remember it takes 6 years for your BR to drop of your credit file anyway.

Thank you so much both of you - I think there would be quite strong medical evidence to show I haven't been intentionally blameworthy or negligent...we'll see

  • so as of today 16th feb 2012 @ 3.30pm i am officially bankrupt it has been a really strange day

i felt so sick and upset this morning but the court couldnt have been nicer and the judge didnt want to see us so that made things slightly easier. we were in and out in under 30 mins seemed little to smooth but i am not going to get complacent i expect the OR interview and the next few weeks to be the more stressful part.

spoke to OR she will call thursday next week she again seemed really nice and said it would be her (hope so) but knowing my luck it will be someone else.

they have said they are sending pack out for me to send forms back - does anyone know is this just a request for bank statements etc? and if so how far back do i have to go?

feel slight releif for tonight but under no illusions that it will be a bumpy/emotional ride but so far not too traumatic

    thanks for everyone messages

jayk & florence glad you had your interview and they went ok i cannot wait for mine to be over. how long did they last and what can i expect?? xx
  • Molly - Congratulations :beer::beer::beer:
It may not feel like it just now but those debts have just gone flying out of your life! :)

My interview only lasted 30 minutes and the OR was great.
The pack will contain a form for you to sign and have witnessed (by a friend or family member), and will request any statements you have plus any other relevant documentation - in my case my redundancy statement.
Don't worry if you can't get them, the OR will be able to.

You will feel even better once the interview is over :)

Now go and have a nice glass of wine and a good long sleep.

    Flo xx

After nearly 18 months of indecision and uncertainty, we have finally done it. I thought I would feel elated once it was over, but instead just have a very flat, down feeling???? Whats that all about. I will need to allow myself a little bit of time I guess to 'grieve' about this, but then I'll be giving myself a kick up the bottom to get on with it! We have OR interview next week Friday, so we are all fully prepared for that and have our paperwork in order, so it shouldn't be too bad. Our outgoings are just about the same as our incomings so I am worried that they will make us cut back on certain things so that they are able to at least get some money from us in the form of an IPO. It will make our budget even tighter than it is now :((. Will post week after next once we know the outcome.
  • Hi Rachelsmum and welcome to the Feb BR Club,

Congratulations on doing the brave deed !!
I felt the same after court and couldn't understand why i felt so odd. I think, as others say, it's part of the BR rollercoaster.

I feel much better after my interview and I would imagine you will too, after all, 18 months of uncertainty will take a while to leave your body and mind ;)

Please let us know how you get on with the OR, and the best of luck to you, for that, and your future :)

    Flo xx
